As per title, anyone having issues i.e dropped calls (max 20 seconds before dropped), network not being found, data completely boggered, switching between 3g, HSPA constantly?

I'm having all these issues on two separate sim cards, one being utilized in a dongle and another in my cell phone.

Can't stay connected long enough to explain the problems to the call centre (as usual there's nothing wrong on their side).

Posting using 8ta right ow. Haven't had any data issues all day.

Thanks guys.

Luckily it's back to normal this morning, I have tons of work to catch up on.

:D

If this happens often, please let us know how often with approximate dates as well as your 8ta and contact details?

Hello, only had disconnection issues with 8ta 3G. I think because of heavy bandwidth usage. Just waiting for more towers to be erected or upgraded. Overall signal is good.

My router couldn't connect to 8ta at all this morning. Completely dead. No internet or WiFi at home. :(

Hi Alvg!

If there is a problem due to heavy bandwidth issues, we can report it and it can be noted that the tower may need an upgrade. The more people reporting issues with a tower, the sooner it will be done.

Sounds like a router issue if the WiFi is not working either... may just need a restart, or replace, or a kick, or a good scolding, or patience. Its not common that the 3G network stops your WiFi from working. Let us know :)

Hi, There was a red light on my router this morning, confirming no internet connectivity. Logged in to my PC and there was no internet at all. Will check again tonight when I am at home.

All sorted. Sorry for the false alarm. There was a limit set on the router's traffic meter. :o

It has been removed & I'm flying again. :D

Okay, I will record the time of disconnects to see if it a frequent to random occurrence.

So.... the good scolding helped with a bit of tweaking :D

Great - have fun!

called the call centre to convert my sim to a data sim and apparently their network coverage map is offline so they cant confirm coverage in my area....i already know i have coverage since i have another sim that my cousin is using.

What you mean by convert your sim to a data sim?

If you mean having access to the 2GB +1GB (R149) or 60GB +60GB (R1800) special, there is an option in the *180# USSD menu.

I've been having terrible throughput here far Pretoria-East.

I have several 8ta contracts, about 5 on the property where I am, all the modems used to get AT LEAST 10 mbps, and excellent latency.

The last week or two, sites takes up to a minute to respond to DNS requests, and most of the time the site loading won't complete.

Average signal is about 75% constant HSDPA.

Two modems are connected to bidirectional antennas, and they too are battling the last week or two.

I know the issue does not lie with my equipment, and I have LOS to the tower.

My son is student at Tuks and staying in Hatfield close to LC de Villiers stadium. He has terrible signal where he is staying. He says that some days he is extremely lucky and will then get about 30Kbps, most of the time it is about 10-15 Kbps.
