Fragmentation- overrated. And will become an increasingly smaller issue.
Apple not innovating- debatable.
From a technological and feature point of view- yes, Apple lags behind Android. But many overlook the fact that Android has adopted the iOS route since the proliferation of Android 4.x, namely the betterment of the quality of OS as opposed to how many features it may contain.
Look at Google's Nexus range- they are, at their core, aspirational to the Apple way of doing things. Many denounce vanilla Android because it may lack as many features as say a skinned version. But this is the way that Google believes it should be done. It is kind of telling.
Anyway, today convinced me that as a consumption and media device, the iPad Mini is easily the best. I would wager that there is not a better tablet available, but I suppose that that is tailored to my taste. I will be getting one for myself
And yes- until an app the quality of Paper can hit the Play Store, I do agree that app quality, not compatibility, is still a (admittedly decreasing) problem for Android.
