Apple lambastes fragmented Android and outdated Samsung

With regards to the tablet market, I think Android is quite far behind Apple in regards to the quality of the catalog. Take Flipboard for example.

Im sure there are issues. However, thanks to tablet fragmentation I also have a tablet that can do some stuff way better than an ipad or nexus can do. I got the note tablet and the stylus rocks! Neither the nexus or ipad can give me what I (personally need) from a tablet. Im thankful for the more choices fragmentation brings. So yeah, another example of fragmentation is that I have specialized stylus software for my note that my ipad and galaxy tab do not have. Hooray for fragmentation!

And thats the upside

And can you not see having one hardly changing platform is also a massive advantage?

Well, I did say for my taste, so I am allowed to be subjective :)

As an Android user, I do have serious misgivings about using iOS. I will miss the sheer level of customization, the comparatively ease of access and use, and the larger variety of features.

But for content and media consumption, allied with build quality, industrial design, app quality and what I want to use the tablet for, I really think that it is an absolute gem. Hell, even with iTunes. I think I could live with it.

I think that I also just want to try something different :)

I have the iPad Mini and in my view is the best iOS device Apple has made to date BUT I will go for the Note 8" when it lands. The Note 8 is the perfect device imo.

Im a liberal, its in my nature, I embrace and push and enjoy change. I believe everything needs constant improvement. I want the next gen. Rather give me something new and better than keep me limited to one system. Hardly changing platforms have their place, which is why cobol devs can still get jobs. I have no problem with one hardly changing platform and if it works will use it... but that doesnt stop me from embracing the quickly evolving platforms. Ive always considered more choice better than less choice. So far its a philosophy in life that has paid off.

Gross. Windows 95 called, they want their Active Desktops back :D

Another great multitasking system (in its day). Yup, I have not made it pretty but darn it works well. I suppose I could have it only doing one thing at a time and made a prettier picture but Ill leave that to other tablets like the ipad that are the professionals of pretty :)

You really need to relax and not take stuff so personally. People are allowed (valid) points that are not yours as well. The fragmentation argument (in my valid view) is mentally retarded. There is no other way to put it. Really it is. That is my belief.

Imagine if Microsoft listened to people with silly fragmentation arguments and never made Windows 3.1 after DOS... or never made Windows 95 after Windows 3.1 because a bunch of cobol developers were crying about fragmentation.

Ive been in IT a very very long time and this without a doubt is one of the dumbest arguments I have ever come across.

Its not personal, I dont read it that way.
But I maintain it's ill-mannered and loutish.
When people use emotional insults such as those there views become less visible. Only the insult is visible.
Thse insults are not banter. They are just rude

Yes you can say that the fragmentation argument is grossly overblown - and that is a valid opinion.
It is also a valid opinion to maintain that fragmentation is an issue
Why not spend more time saying why and less time being emotional

I have also been in IT for many years.
I try to keep a little more level headed

Only if you take them personally. Get a thicker skin.

In the same way that office 2013 wont run on Windows 95 is a valid fragmentation issue.

I did. Dont you read the thread? Im not emotional on this topic.

I have also been in IT for many years.
Ill be polite and just nod my head.

Awesome. You are my beacon of morality.

I would LOVE to have a linux on my phone (not the flaky rom from Canonical) more like have a full linux machine packed into a phone. oh the bliss of opening a shell while in a meeting to fix something instead of having to carry this damn notebook around.

For now I will have to go on the hunt for a ROM that has a TRON feel as an interim. Seen a few screenshots but nothing impressive so far.

you can do that if want to.. have rooted android? then look in pplay store for
complete linux installer [ ubuntu 10/12 , backtrack ;) ;) ;) ,debian , archlinux, fedora 17 and opensuse12 ]
linux installer [ debian , ubuntu ,raspbian (ARMHF PU) ]

It's a different opinion to yours. Can you not see how someone might value things differently to you?

I can if they are talking sense. It is a known issue with Mac products to get media on the device that doesn't come from the istore (more specifically movies and episodes). So there is no way that someone can tell me it's simple and effective.... on an android of god forbid windows tablet you simply copy the media on.....

Hmmmm my calendar is pretty full in the evenings atm... busy with a huge project. Will have a look at all the FOSS goodness as soon as I have some time on my hands.

My Desire HD not the sgs2. Will Root that mofo later. It's bugging me atm. I think the motherboard is busted.

Okay great. Just to comment on your issue with copying media using iOS, it's a lot easier in fact as easier to copy files over wifi if your iPad/iPhone is rooted. As easy as on my S3. I have an issue trying to access music and movies via usb with my HDRyan and car head unit using my S3 because of the stupid MTP connection method not being read. My iPod has no issues. Each platforms has it's strengths and weaknesses, you just need to know how to make them work and use what works best for you.
