Apple sets September 12 event, latest iPhone expected

Lol, where is the love??

I was already sold when I got the iphone 4, its durable, battery is amazing, build quality is astounding, its predicable and powerful, I'm never getting a different phone.

My contract renews early next year, I have to say, I still am not tired of this phone, it's incredibly good, long lasting value.

Introducing the new iPhone 5:

32 more patents
The iPhone 5 is so revolutionary that we had to patent 32 of it's features. One of the patents we are most proud of is the "line" patent. With this leap in design technology are years ahead of the competition and with our lawyers we can prevent them phone catching up.

Improved Siri
Siri is a huge success, being the best voice controlled phone on the market, we had to step up our game by a huge amount. Siri now understands your while drunk so making those phone calls to your ex-gf is so much easier now.

23% more power
The iphone 5 adds 23% more power to your phone. This means brighter colours, faster games, and the screen even feels smoother. We used our patented relationship with chip makers to give you move. The A5S chip is improves performance beyond anything ever seen by a hand held device and is the FIRST phone to ever have 2.5 cores.

ios
We've manage to steal more ideas from other OS making our phone better in every way. With our recent partnership with Bell, we can counter sue anyone that tries to take us to court over stolen OS idea, as we now own the patent to the "telephone". Never be without a feature that other lesser brands have.

Same price
The iphone 5 will cost the same as the 4s. We've managed to streamline our legal cases by hiring 30% more lawyers, and we've bribed just the right amount of people in the courts to provide court cases winning in our favour 60% quicker. This means that your iphone5 will always be the best phone at no extra cost to you.

Haters gonna hate ;)

On a less humorous side, usually the rumours of the iPhone are flying in strength and the specs/ideas of the new phone are amazing. This year there aren't many rumours and those going around are bland and boring specs/ideas. Doesnt seem like there is much expected from the iphone5.

That or I've just stopped caring about iphone rumours.

+1... I was kind of stoked when the 4S came out and it wasn't a major upgrade seeing as my contract was only half way through. Itching to see what the iPhone 5 is like.

Well it is time to upgrade my iPhone 3G, so why not. :)

I don't expect anything of real value from this iPhone5.

Perhaps a bigger screen and some iOs tweaking?
Meh - Apple's closed ecosystem will hopefully start decaying amongst itself.

 If Apple falls by the wayside who's Samsung going to use for R&D? (j/k)

Got S3 and iPad3. Don't use the iPad. Prefer Galaxy Tab 10.1.

What do you find is nice about the combo?

To be very honest I'm past that stage where I want to tinker with things to get them to work, I have zero interest in flashing new roms etc! The iPad worked out of the box, granted i did jailbreak my iPad mainly to be able to get free apps which I either end up deleted if they are not what I expected or purchased if they are what I wanted and for one or two other small tweaks such as safari tabs+ etc

When I got my SGS2 it was really cool, I did enjoy it but battery life was beyond pathetic, I ended up making a jig, flashing many different ROMS(not something I want to do, nor something you should need to do to a brand new phone IMHO...), and that's what put me off android. Another thing is that there are far to many different android phones/tablet and far to many versions of android itself, I still haven't upgraded my sgs2 past 3.x.x because it was a hassle to find a rom that had decent kernel, modem and good battery life.. The one I have now works and I'm happy with it!

I know some people may disagree but iOS works out the box! The range of applications are great and to some extent with jail break you can do what you want, battery life is good and won't really differ between the same devices. Do I still like my sgs2, yes but I really wouldn't want to go through the same process for my tablet!

The arguement will never end, but for the average user I would rather recommend an iOS device than android, or even a techno user who doesn't want to have to fiddle to get things to work as they shoulda out of the box...

There's a Nokia event today, yes?

Yes, and it is worth following. Keen to see what Nokia launches ... although the news leaked yesterday and we already know what the new phone looks like.

I just hope Nokia comes with top notch specs (and not just a great camera on colourful below average hardware again).

The way Nokia has been going they should be making cameras and not phones.

I realise post count is trés important but consider editing one post instead of making multiple consecutive posts instead.

It's good forum etiquette ;)

Are you all programmed to say the same thing? :/

I think you're past the stage because ... you can't

The same as none of you wanted 3G because ... you couldn't.
And no one needed anything larger than 20MB because ... you couldn't

Not important to me and not my motive for writing separate posts. The speed at which discussions flow on this forum often make editing a waste of time as people do not look back to see who might have edited their opinions earlier. I just write. I try to be active here between doing a day-job and speed is my no 1 priority ... not forum structure.
