Article: Gareth Cliff arrested for speeding

Until an unsupervised little child decides to run across the road. You won't be able to stop your car in time. Just saying.

Animals on the roads at night are more dangerous, being very difficult to see. At 120Km/h, the driver has extremely little time to react by the time their headlights pick up an obstruction in the road

I did 205km/h on the N1 North between William Nicol and Malibongwe just last week and it was worth it. What a rush! Would i do it again... probably not.
I think the only reason our highway speed limit doesn't get updated is because there are too many peeps driving old cars and taxi's if we all had super modern cars then i don't see the reason not to bump it up, at least to 140km/h

Glad to see there are so many people on here that have never broken the speed limit...

There is not a single person here or on the planet with a drivers license that hasn't broken the speed limit.

But then we get 70 in a 60 zone or 80 in a 60 zone and then we get 180 in a 120 zone.
If he had done 130 in a 120 and got busted, I'd laugh it off and say that the cops are just being pathetic but he did 180 in a 120 zone - and he didn't do it for 5 seconds (enough time to realise his mistake and stamp on brakes) - GC thinks his cool and drove for however long at that speed.

I don't know what is going through his stupid little head but I do believe it's karma - the way he talks and treats people - I said it many times and it will always come back and bite you.

There is breaking the speed limit and then doing 182!

Considering what he's driving, a few seconds of inattention and he'd be doing that kind of speed without even feeling the difference.

This is why I drive with cruise control *everywhere* - I set it at the last speed limit sign and let the car do its thing, whether it's 60, 70, 80, 100 or 120.

And tomorrow we should start killing people because a lot of people has and will kill people?

I drove a friend's sportscar (let's leave it at that) a while ago and while I thought I was doing 50-60, I was sitting at more than double that. It's very very easy to do so when you have enough power. Thing is you can feel you're doing it. At 180 unless you have a changing steering ratio, steering wheel movements have a large change on the direction you're driving.

Really? Karma? Treating people badly, and his 'punishment' for that is getting arrested for speeding? LULZ

Joburg's roads are heavily trapped don't be surprised if you get summons at the door in the next few weeks.

Maybe people should take the person out and then make their judgement on the offence only. Obviously it would then not even have been news.

Hope the POS gets a FUGE fine. Wait - he isn't a member on MyBB, is he? Would hate another Aki incident.

Geez... why the wrath? What did Cliff ever do to you ?

He did a bad thing now he will have to deal with the consequences.

You won't be able to stop in time if you were doing 120km/h either.
Why would there be an unsupervised child on a freeway at night anyway?

Just saying.

hopefully. Risking innocent people's lives for a 'rush'.

Should be ashamed

It does not take a few seconds of inattention for a Range Rover Evoque to jump from 120 to 180.

High speed driving requires attention. Mr "SPEEDSTER GP" knows he was speeding. Any person who is not aware they driving at 180km/h is a danger on our roads.

Na... the attacks on Gareth always seem to get personal.

Like Rob Vember said this morning: If you are going 61 in a 60 zone you are a criminal. Its no different.

Besides if we are going to get angry about speed there are people driving way faster.
