Article: Gareth Cliff arrested for speeding

I truly love South Africa. Its quite entertaining to see how the discussion is unfolding on myBB and news24 websites. If it were Cele, Juju or Vavi, the discussion would be somewhat different.

We have enough casualties in our roads. I say lock him up and throw away the key, let him serve as an example to others that they are not beyond the law.

He didn't spend the night in jail, nobody got hurt and he admitted that he was a twat. i don't know how he couldn't realise that he wasn't doing 180, but i dig Gareth Cliff. sometimes i disagree with him and think that he is rude when he doesn't have to be, but he doesn't take himself seriously and takes it on the chin.

@GarethCliff Well, you're using Twitter, which means you must be using Cell C? "

lol

Meh, I don't really have any kind of problem with a modern car doing that kind of speeds on a highway at night.

The cars are built for it and the only thing really holding them back is traffic which is sparse at night.

In my opinion the speed laws should be updated.

All I can do is Lol in amazement!

Indeed.

I'd much rather do 180 in daylight than at night. Not that I ever do 180. It's reckless in most situations.

Can't multiquote on mobile, but agree with news24 on the 'Make an example' issue to a degree- countless other road users/offenderd are simply prosecuted by the law. No reason why he shouldn't be.

news24 as in news24, or news24 as in foxnews? :D

Personally I feel that all people are equal and should be treated as such, but I also feel that people that live in the limelight should be made examples of, specifically because people use them as excuses - they allow people to do that.

Fine him, and fine him properly. Tyvm.

Until an unsupervised little child decides to run across the road. You won't be able to stop your car in time. Just saying.

Glad to see there are so many people on here that have never broken the speed limit...

Im trying to think of a way to describe how bad your opinion is without pointing out your lack of intelligence.
It has been proven time after time that the stopping distance for a vehicle at that speed is a VERY long distance.
The other thing is that the amount of distance per second covered is substantial so no matter what your reaction times you will not be fast enough if something goes wrong.
