Article: No white men for SAA cadet program: union

The South African Airways uses an unfair admittance policy for its cadet pilot development programme, which does not admit white males, trade union Solidarity said on Thursday.

They have tried it before, it flopped.

So much for being a born free.

Disgusting.

When is Zuma gonna implement the same policy for his flight crew?

I don't fly SAA.

Unfortunately my tax money still goes to keeping the dinosaur afloat.

Likewise. Fk them and that's not even considering this no whities bull****. Some how even with the tax payers millions per annum they provide the least favorable experience.

Mango is SAA though. :( only operator to Bloemfontein though....

I'd rather have a black pilot fly me on a Kulula or British Airways flight thank you very much.
I cannot trust an operator who selects their pilots based on race instead of merit and skill.
We don't need taxi drivers in the air.

Talking about Taxi Drivers in the Sky, what happened with that?

I agree that there has to be measures to address the past injustices against "black" people and women, but the exclusion of white men from pilot programmes is another injustice that we should not tolerate in this country. White men shouldn't by default be excluded completely from entering certain employment on the basis that there are already too many whites in those jobs. It's unfair, discriminatory and unconstitutional. It's the same as the rumours coming from Telkom that white males will be targeted for retrenchments.

This has been going on for years.

Those that are selected are still selected on merit, as long as they fit the AA quota.

Since my race and gender is not acceptable in the cockpit, I believe my race and gender is also not welcome in the passenger area. I will henceforth fly BA/Comair.
