Avoid Amobia [resolved]

Pretty good now that I have it. Support is quick to respond, connection is fast and solid. I have changed my mind about them, they are very good.

Glad you were sorted out, my own experience with them has been impeccable, they always answer support related questions quickly, even on weekends!

The ones on their site are wrong. New ones are in their contract.
Amobia websites are the worst.

@Rouxenator, if you don't mind me asking on what package are you and what do you use the net for. I am looking for a WISP in the Vaal Triangle and they contacted me and sent the contract but it confuses me as it says the uncapped 4mb/s is not for video and for the same price the one thats recommended for video has a 20GB cap. I plan on using the line for Netflix, gaming, and PS downloads probably at least 80GB a month and their support doesn't give me a satisfying answer.

I am on the 4mbps uncapped package and so far I have done 100gb this month. P2P is shaped heavily during the day but I am very happy with their service so far.

Was on a 2mbps package with them for roughly 18 months. Had a total of six hours downtime with them. However they shape P2P to death even after hours.

Thanks P2P do not bother me, I'll maybe contact them again. Just waiting on Garth from bitco to update on when en where the vaal will get coverage.

What's your speedtest to a local server?

Speak to SA Wireless,I know they had extensive coverage in an around the vaal in the past when I needed to connect a few remote warehouses out there to head office.Although you may want to find out their prices first because the prices on the website seem very outdated to me since that's what they offered all those years ago, cant still be the same.:wtf:

What is it with these wisps not updating their sites?

Avoid Amobia indeed...

Add to the mix lots of packet drops at times and disconnections every hour or so and this is pretty much the performance we've been getting over the last 3 weeks. Please note that this is supposed to be a 3Mbps connection.

And their support? "We're looking into it" "We've done some changes" "We will get back to you" and all those generic helpdesk replies and lies, while nothing really happens in the end...

They moved me to a new sector yesterday and now I have 4mbps up and down. No complaints this side.

Don't know, must be the area that is serviced by their koeberg tower that is problematic then.
We have problems all year round, that take weeks to be resolved, every single time.
A few months back we've been moved to the kontermanskloof tower (which is too far for a decent signal), because apparently their koeberg tower was down. It took them 2 weeks and countless phone calls to finally admit that there was a problem with the koeberg tower and then another two weeks to fix it. In the meantime the line had disconnections every ten minutes and the speeds were atrocious due to the abysmal signal.
When everything works its wonderful. Full speed all day long and snappy browsing. When the issues start though...
I've no faith to their support anymore.
