I recently signed up with Axxess ISP and got myself a 4Mb uncapped ADSL account. I would like to know what the 'soft cap' is on the package I took before finding out the hard way by being throttled.

Hi gee5evo,

We don't 'soft cap' our uncapped accounts, but we do Manage them if the need arises. Our AUP on Uncapped accounts states that: "During peak network times, we give priority to real time services (browsing, email, streaming etc), high bandwidth services such as NNTP, Peer-to-Peer and Torrents (and similar) will receive less priority. In the evenings when there is less demand on the network, high bandwidth services will receive increased priority which will result in increased throughput speeds compared to peak network times."

Would that mean that if we use your new DNS suite to access Netflix we would be given priority over ftp, p2p, nntp? And that we wouldn't get softcapped / throttled to an insane degree (like down to 384 speeds) if we were to download 200gbs a month? I'm looking to move from mweb, where we hit softcap and get throttled into the stone age, so any info would be much appreciated. Thanks. (Sorry for hijacking the thread xP.)

Hi Cameron,

Sadly we had to remove Global Axxess from our DNS Suite, but generally speaking Netflix would fall under streaming which qualifies as a real-time service, which is not Managed.
