Axxess ISP

I lolled. They seem to be preparing to close.

I am very tempted to agree with that, but our company prides itself on consistency and..

We have been with Axxess for over a year and were loving it.. We had a 4meg from them and shared amongst roughly 16 users with no complaints at all. Then, about 2months ago, we went up to 30 users and had to upgrade. So, we got another 4meg (our exchange only goes supports up to 4meg) ..

Over the past 2months we have been experiencing a very unstable connection and inconsistent speeds like never before! Since the upgrade it seems like we have actually downgraded:wtf: .. At first I actually thought it was an issue on our side and spent more than two weeks grilling myself and everyone around me! Especially when Axxess Support Team gave me the Run-Around by telling me NOTHING IS WRONG ON THEIR SIDE - and yet, our network own internal network ended up testing healthy as a horse and when our connection would intermittently slightly improve, it definitely wasn't because we changed anything:wtf:

That said..

Today, for the first time, I have felt like I am still a client with Axxess - The best ISP of 2015. I'd like to add that we haven't been able to celebrate that with you up until now - been too frustrated.

Was going to ramble on, but I think I'm feeling better after being able to have a rant of my own:D

I apologise. To summarize and some info:

We are in the Northern Cape.
Running two 4meg lines at the moment.
Our connection returned to acceptable speeds today for the first time - will definitely give feedback again within the next few days.

We are still happy with Axxess.

Hi guys, over the weekend, on Saturday evening, there was a brief period where some of our clients were unable browse. This has been resolved and all connections are back to normal. If anyone is still having issues, please PM us so we can investigate.

Can someone please explain how/when axxess throttles torrent downloads? I was getting awesome download speeds up till two days ago, when my download speed fell to below 10 kB/s? Downloads taking forever even after midnight...Browsing and streaming speeds are fine. Is there a certain cap for downloads on an uncapped 4 meg line before you get throttled?

I was told Axxess uncapped is throttled on a daily basis. So you can only download so much a day before really low speeds hit. Thats what the guy on the phone told me.

I was on Axxess uncapped and its disappointing, change to a capped product with Axxess now my line runs at 95-100% of what its capable of at all times. You also get uncapped from 12pm-6am on their capped products.

So basically change to a capped product and be much happier.

Hi w@nted- as per our AUP and T's and C's:

"The Axxess Protocol Manager is used to provide all home uncapped users on our network with the best possible internet experience. During peak network times, we give priority to real time services (such as browsing, email, streaming etc), high bandwidth services such as NNTP, Peer-to-Peer and Torrents (and similar but not limited to) will receive less priority. Clients deemed to be continuously uploading/downloading or using the service for unattended automated processes will be managed by the Axxess Protocol Manager. The Axxess Protocol Manager may be used to manage clients by rate limiting (slowing down speed) and limiting or preventing service using specific protocols or ports. We reserve the right to use the Axxess Protocol Manager to manage the integrity of our network should network capacity not be available at any time, we assure our clients that we will do this in a responsible manner should the need arise. Thanks for the feedback.

So it is completely up to the discretion of the Axxess protocol manager? I would just like to know if there are more defined rules regarding this, as it is applied even after midnight? It would really help to have guidelines to schedule/plan downloads more effective.

I may have "binged" on downloads in the first week from excitement of having ADSL, so hopefully I wont be penalized for that permanently. :o
