So I signed up for uncapped got awesome speeds then hit my rolling threshold and bam my account is stuff 24/7 super slow speeds the highest i get between 8pm and 8am is 200kb/s. I have been on the phone to "tech support" since Monday and get the "We are waiting for IS to look into it". Is it just me or is Axxess in general over extending it's uncapped service?

Stop the payments and when they complain just tell them "I'm waiting for my bank to look into it".

/me giggles silly and goes to bed ...

I have been having the same problem the last few days doing speed test from here to the US and to London only getting around 0.86mbit/s and 1.5mbit/s on my line which is a little on the low side. pings are also a little higher and trying to stream stuff has become a bit of a pain just for the last few days. Not sure whats up I hope they can hunt it down.

Oh yeah downloading here from DBN North area.

I also had that problem. If you are using torrents and direct downloads at the same time, limit your torrent upload speed to a little bit less than your line max upload speed (like 300kbps, where 512kbps would be the line max)

I found that when uTorrent maxes out the line upload speed direct downloads suffer as the ack messages struggle to get back to the source.

I know this sounds insane, but just give it a shot. ;)

& i see that the express accounts have been suspended due to use of illegal software (p2p) I.S tracking ???

I.S has been know to send out email stating stuff about illegal downloading to some clients. Its been mentioned on the forum.

well I have also been having issues with my uncapped express sat this week. speeds were all over the place and latency was up the pole... and packet loss was totally out of hand!

its back to normal from last night, so I could actually do something else besides play facebook poker! :D

regarding seeds setup by the movie companies, clearlly you are not using the right sites :)

how can I use SSL for my torrents, do you have any advice?

Im tired of being slammed with ilegal downloads by I.S

thanks in advance

Thanks for all the advice, going to investigate giganews and the others? any solid recomendations?

a side note.. why havent they at the very least given us a small discount now that Seacom is up and running.. say instead of paying R999 a month we could be paying 599/699pm?? i can see their subscribers multiplying exponentially overnight...

@GwainW : SSL wont help you. SSL or other encryption merely masks the data.

However Torrents rely on you connecting to peers. So they "pose" as peers/seeders and get the list of IPs of available peers, and then use that to "hunt down" the evil masses.

You cant encrypt the list of peers IPs because that would defy what Torrent downloading is about.

Switching over to usenets with all torrent sites shutting down and the limited number of seeders for all the "old" stuff i am looking for.

Spoke to one of Axxess staff at Rage - they have got some packages comming out in 2010. Could not say much, except that IS is also going to buy into one of the new undersea cables launching soon. Thats what they are waiting for.

The other good news is that they(Axxess) are not going to do away with their uncapped packages :D :D :D
