Which is the best Huawei Router/Modem to get?
1. Huawei E5331
2. Huawei B683
3. Huawei E5776
Can they all connect to a pc without Wifi? My area only covers 3g and not LTE so a ittle sceptical of changing from Telkom ADSL. Advice would be appreciated.

I have #1, so do most forumites. And it can connect to Internet by cable only. No issues with the device. Battery life is not the advertised 6 hours or something. Actually ~12 hours. 3G should suffice, the MiFi boasts 21.1Mbps, and if you do have decent coverage, you should be fine, no need for LTE. Go for #1.

Here are speedtests using the device (MTN on Afrihost Mobile)

Thanks for your suggestion Slab :) At the moment I use an ethernet cable to connect my pc to my router, can the same be done with the e5331? and if so is it also with ethernet cable or via usb?

Ok, um, just googled the two others. #2 has an Ethernet port. #1 and #2 have no Ethernet ports. BTW, E5331 is not LTE capable, only E5576. #1 and #3 use USB (to mini).

B683 is a desktop router, has 4 Fast Ethernet ports, no battery.

The B683 is the superior option of the three products listed. The E5331 and E5776 are MiFi units - they hold very little appeal or value as heavy duty devices for multiple, hard core users. Due to the size, the receivers are also tiny and their WiFi isn't very good.

Why don't you look at a B593? You'll then at least have an upgrade path to LTE.

Invested in a Huawei B880-73 modem/router, 2X Poynting LPDA yagis, suitable mast and wall attachment bracket.

Wow, results outstanding with Telkom mobile LTE: http://speedtest.ookla.com/result/2655979521.png

Have a spare wall bracket and 4.5m mast with easy alignment available, please pm me.
