Broadband in SA compared: Cheapest entry-level products

True the is no substitute for fixed line, quality fixed line. for Telkom fix line is still their only hope to turn the company around.

As opposed to fixed line speeds which are dependent on how many people are connected to the exchange
 
It's a pricing abnormally that makes SA fixed line services comparable to mobile, typically there is compare vs price or quality in developed/ing economies with infrastructure. I think the whole rot of fixed line Telkom can only blame on themselves.

To make matters worse we have Telkom now with a mobile division which I suspect will be pushed as the 'solution' for most, while fixed line is seen as premium due to 'quality' and guarantees you expect from fixed services. weird world we live in.. I don't know why regulator has allowed Telkom to start Telkom Mobile while it retains monopoly on fixed line, its kinda counter intuitive. Hopefully there is some guarantee that they can't steer people towards mobile.
 
In a normal environment fixed line will always offer better speeds, lower latency and higher reliability, all at a lower price than mobile. Furthermore, fixed is where the high-end of the market will be, eventually we will all be fiber-connected at our homes and watch TV in Ultra-HD in real time.

Mobile will always be a supporting technology only used when you're moving outside your home.

So it's fixed at very high speeds (50Mb/s+) in your home with huge caps (300GB) and lowers speeds 9~3-10Mb/s) with smaller caps (<10GB) while mobile.

Then, of course, there's South Africa.....
