So here an interesting scenario, sorry if it's a bit long winded. I've been fighting with my adsl line for 2 months now, constantly dis- and re-connecting at varying speeds. Not sure if that is relevant but it might point to underlying issues with the router which was also mysteriously reset to factory default 2 days ago. I reconfigured everything and it worked fine for a day although still only syncing at 1Mb instead of 4Mb. Logged a fault with Telkom about the line speed and then yesterday, no internet. The line was however syncing perfectly at 4Mb but for the life of me could not get it to even try and connect to the ISP and I tried 3 different ones including the telkom guest account.
So here is where is gets really confusing. Assuming it's a line issue given the history, I take the router over to my folks place, plug it in and same thing; syncing fine but will not connect so I give up and plug their router back in. Guess what, now their router will not connect, exactly the same issue???? How the hell is that even possible? Surely it cannot be a coincidence, any ideas?
