Hi Everyone,

As a fist time poster, apologies if this is in the incorrect section.

After signing up to afrihost mid April 2018. I have still not received access, after they have taken the money from my account (starting the day I signed, long before I received the router). I have still not received anything in terms of a router or explanation... or even something as crazy as an apology.

All of this is almost inconsequential because apparently, I have used 20% of my data without having access. There is definitely illegality about this and theft of data. If you are an existing customer, check to see they are not ripping you off as well...

Has anyone experienced this before?

Thanks in advance

Good morning James

I suggest you cancel with AfriFail as soon as possible and do yourself a favor by signing up with an ISP with working support that actually cares about their clients.

For Fibre i suggest you look at www.cisp.co.za

Good luck cancelling and getting your monies back!

This is Afrihost, the ISP that will lock you to a chain with your freedom key 1cm from your fingers as they suck you dry from behind. Happened to me too, internet went off, I had like 7gigs which mysteriously disappeared but I let it go, if it happens again I definitely won't waste time and cancel.
Do yourself a favour.

Cancelling my Afrihost contract was the best decision of my life.

Their fibre pricing isn't that great.

You pay for what you get which in CISP case is an excellent network and superb support.
With AH you are guaranteed to have problems and NO support.

I would rather pay extra knowing i can use the service i pay for 24/7 ;-)

It really does boggle the mind how a company is unable to do the simplest things and still be in business.

Yes, good call with cisp - unfortunately, I have moved in to a new complex and am waiting on the fibre install. Thought it would be a simple case of using afrihell for a few months and moving across when it is set up but getting a router from JHB to CPT is a task that is apparently beyond their reach.

I have looked again online and have now magically used up close to 30GB without a router or access... and still have not had any feedback from them and of course, have charged me in full with no refund!

How often do you need support? I'm on Afrihost uncapped 40mbps fibre (Openserve) and I haven't had a days problems.

If you peruse the AH threads you will find countless clients of theirs requesting support for a wide range of issues.
Sadly the common sentiment is that they have all been let down with the conventional support channels (emails/chats/phone) and come to MyBB as a last resort in the hopes that of the AH reps can resolve their issues.
Looking at the percentage of users that give up in disgust and end up leaving for another ISP the support levels at AH have dropped to such a low and dismal standard that even the die-hard loyalists have left :-(

If you have had no problems then I truly hope that stays the case for you; once you do have an issue... you will likely become a former-AH client as I once was.

OCP - well said
The_Librarian - No, it isn't i'm afraid. I have double checked to makes sure :)

I have just looked at the logs and it appears my account was active i.e. data started dissapearing from my account/ allocation the moment I signed up in April. This is all very strange.

Same here bud, they've grown to big - they don't give a damn about their clients anymore.
But people don't talk with with their money these days. If they did, Afrihost would become another OpenWEB and slowly vanish.

I've also noticed this trend, these guys are allowing their services to be severely over subscribed.
Afrihost and a few others are now so over subscribed that getting support is nigh impossible, you sit on the phone for 15mins and still nothing, on a cellphone that sh#t adds up. I'm not with Afrihost any more but they used to be great because support was always available, I have an issue at the moment with one of their competitors and I checked my phone logs and I've been sitting on the phone with them for over an hour over the last 2 days, majority of that on hold, who has time for that bs?
