Hello,

With reference to Cell C having taken action by allowing customers to extend data bundle expiration dates, by purchasing additional data:

Please can you answer these questions for me:

1) Is it possible to extend my existing "Cell C 100 GIGA" 12 month prepaid data bundle that expires on the 30th of January 2018, by purchasing more data?

If it is possible, then I assume that I must login to my Cell C Account at this url (https://www.cellc.co.za/cellc/get-databundles), and choose one of the "recharge data bundle" options.

There are two options:

a) 30 day option.
If I select anything from 30MB to 30GB, then will my existing "Cell C 100 GIGA" 12 month prepaid data bundle balance, be extended by 30 days?

b) 365 day option.
If I select "SMARTDATA ONCE OFF 100GB @ R1599", then will my existing "Cell C 100 GIGA" 12 month prepaid data bundle balance, be extended by 365 days?

2) When I login to My Cell C account at their website, it says that my data will expire on 30-01-2018. Does this mean that I can still use my data on the 30th until 23:59 or will the data only be valid until 23:59 on the 29th of January 2018?

I would be most appreciative for your answers.

Thank you.

Hi Cazz

Thank you for contacting us.

Unfortunately, upon expiration there shall be no rollover of unused data to the following year.

Hello Cell C,

Thank you for your response, but you never answered my second question.

2) When I login to My Cell C account at your website, it says that my data will expire on 30-01-2018. Does this mean that I can still use my data on the 30th of January 2018 until 23:59 or will the data only be valid until 23:59 on the 29th of January 2018?

Please advise as today is the 29th of January 2018, and I need to know if data that expires tomorrow on 30-01-2018 is valid until 23:59 on the 30-01-2018, or does it expire immediately after midnight tonight?

3) Please also advise me if it is possible to extend my existing "Cell C 100 GIGA" 12 month prepaid data bundle that expires on the 30th of January 2018 for a further 30 days, by purchasing more data?

I understand from your previous message that it is not possible to extend for another 365 days, but what about 30 days?

Please kindly answer question (2) and (3), so that I know what my options are.

I look forward to your response.

Thank you.

Thank you.

I was told by their Canal Walk staff that there is no way to roll forward data from a giga 100/200 purchase.

FWIW, my experience of CellC expiry dates is that it expires in the first seconds of the day stated. So if they say it expires on 30 January it really means midnight on the 29th. Sneaky, isn't it?

With Telkom I find when they say the 30th they mean midnight on the 30th.

Oh yes, this is true. Cell C data expires at the start of the expiration day, not the end of it.
