Thanks will have to download later this afternoon, can't wait for Cell C to fix this.

If you use the lower link to put it on your stick its the same as how they would fix it anyway + it will load onto any PC you use....just not official.
The original dash files on your stick, that don't have the "wcdma only" option enabled, are available on the CellC drivers page should you want to go back to the original at any time,it will just overwrite the unofficial one.

Been having these issues. But there's no way to fix it when you're using the stick with a wifi router I assume.

Fortunately this setting is stored in the modem's NVRAM, so once you set it to '3G Only' on a Windows machine it will stay in that mode even when you plug it in to your router.

While you're at it CellC, PLEASE stop the dashboard software from disabling the "Show window contents while dragging" system performance option on Windows - i.e. windows show only an outline when you move them around. Believe it or not this is the main reason I won't plug my speed stick into this PC.

I applied the software fix (from the first page of this thread), but I am still only getting Edge coverage. Possibly a coverage problem in this area (Hillcrest, Pretoria)?

settings/options/network
you select "wcdma only" & it will force it on WCDMA/HSPA as opposed to Edge - as long as the signal is available.
If no signal whilst that is selected then you need to drop it down to "wcdma preferred" where it will work on either.

Hi

Why does it still say it is the old firmware version if you view the version in cell c dashboard ?

Firstly, this is not a firmware update, so the firmware version should not change.

Secondly, this is not a newer dashboard, it is the same dashboard with the configuration changed to enable the 'WCDMA Only' settings.

The device drivers in included in this package are newer than the ones supplied by Cell-C though.

Good Day

We just loaded the old Cell C Dashboard on the website, that allows you to change network preferences. which means you will be able to change from WCDMA preferred, to your preferred network settings.

Come on CELL C rep give us a rename on the driver for example [FIX] or something for now...

So people are adviced to download the latest fixed drivers to force WDCMA automatically.

http://twitter.com/cellc Link that CELLC supplied on twitter ain't working

Update had to clear my internet cache.

I got the latest firmware & dash (mobile connect) from dc-files.
Set WDCMA only. Trying anything to "fix" the timeout/dis-reconnect problem.
