Cell C Network Issues: Disconnects, Coverage, Throughput Problems - Report Here

Wow this network is unstable. Thanks to a power outage I am forced to tether with my Galaxy s3. Pathetic to say the least.

Right had a call from Cell C engineers they say they have optimized the base station that I draw signal from. Got home tried it out and there is a small improvement, got throughput now where as before nothing. However the network is still very unstable ping is all over the place, download is way below the average the upload battles to give me a result!

Thanks for trying guys, but you need to try harder, much harder!

CELL C IPHONE 5 COVERAGE AND DATA

Hi
im about to port to cell c for the Iphone 5, well now im having the same issue about stock, after being told my Iphone is ready for collection.
Is the cellc coverage good in the Durban, SA, area in general?
Is the Data speed fast enough.
Is it worth the wait, the rates are excellent, How is CellC service, data technical service?

Would you guys recommend I just live with the reliable, excellent service, however very expensive Vodacom?
Would really appreciate your feedback!

I haven't had any problems with Cell C, but I use Prepaid, some complain about their admin.

I have had data problems at peak periods.

My experience in Umhlanga was good, can't speak about Durban in general.

I changed to Cell C Straight Up today. Good data speeds, good service at my local branch and of course excellent value. My number only took a few hours to port from MTN. The freebies you get when recharging, and the 100MB for R15 bundle is awesome. No complaints.

I sitting at 4 bars, but I get zero throughput. My connection type hops between 3g and HSPA+, but nothing comes through. I guess this is due to the general connection problem?

If I were you, I would just give up and go to a different provider. I keep getting given "tickets" when I call their support, but nothing ever happens and they don't even recognise the ticket numbers when you call the next time. I have had all 5 bars and a perfect connection for months, but for the last 3 weeks have not reached even 0.1mb/s in either download or upload. The irony is that I joined Cell C almost 3 years ago and the speeds back then were always high and reliable. This is just another one of those cases where mobile operators sell bandwidth they simply do not have. As such, the sheer volume of traffic renders the service unuseable. I am taking my dongle back tomorrow morning for a refund on the remainder of my contract. I cannot work like this.

Surely at some stage they will fix this though. I mean it sounds like it started at around the same time for all of us. Surely it must be something that's fixable.

I am unable to call some numbers from my ported in Cell C number. These numbers work from Cell C issued numbers.

I called 140 and pressed 9 and I get the message, "Sorry the system can't provide this service for you now."

If this is not resolved by the end of today I guess I will be porting out tomorrow.

Rather than sit back and wait for nothing to happen, why don't you just phone Cell C and have them sort out the technical issues remaining after your port?

Why did you sign your post with your username?

I've been with Cell C for 4-5 months with no problems. the problems only started recently. Who do I phone at Cell C. Calls to 140 don't go to a Customer Care agent. See my previous post.

PM Cell_C with your details.

The issues started right around the time they started selling large numbers of big prepaid data bundles. As such, the problems we are encountering are almost certainly due to traffic. These issues are not likely to get any better, in fact they may get worse.

Major network problems today. Incoming calls have to be dialed twice. First call always going to voice mail. WTF.

This Cell C data connection problem is really a major pain! Its been causing frustration since end of Jan, and still persists!!!!

This is so unacceptable, its just not funny.

Would really love to know who's bright idea it was to decrease the prices without increasing the load capacity.
