cell c dead last night

hi

first post here so be kind :-) edit :- second post....

can you tell me if there was a total cell c "blackout" last night? i stay in Pretoria East and a mate stays in Durban. we were both online in a game at the same time when we both lost complete connection of Cell C. Neither of us could re-connect.

i have been having issues lately where i am connected but unable to go online. my RSSI is normally around -87 to -97 with a ping of 200, a download of 1.2 and an upload of .05 but after using some tin foil and "boosting" my signal i managed to get it to -73 to -79 with a ping of 67, a download of 10 and an up of 2.2.

this was consistent over the weekend with my "DIY" receiver but i am now unable to connect at all.

which thread should i be putting this into, or how do i give you the relevant info you need?

please help

Good Day firejunky101

That does sound funny?
I have PM you, as need some info to assist best way possible.

This is why I cannot rely on Cell C :

Test Date: Jun 24, 2011 10:53:26 am
Connection Type: Wifi
Server: Johannesburg
Download: 68 kbps
Upload: 53 kbps
Ping: 523 ms

This is in Illovo, 500m North of Wanderers - yesterday I got 3.5mbps download !!!

I got the bundles hoping to get rid of ADSL, but there is just no way that I can do this - so it was a waste of money!

I have also done some further testing, and they were even slower - this is just useless !!!!

Always slow, constant disconnects every night, never EVER get speeds over 1mb/s. I have paid R3000 for a service that I have never gotten, and am effectively being robbed. Thanks for the false advertising.

Still the same issues. I can't use the internet at night, rendering it useless, and during the day, here are my speeds:

Will you guys ever be fixing the issues we have? Or are you just going to keep sending mails with reference numbers, thereafter ignoring us completely. This !@#$ing company is robbing me. FIX IT!

Any other information relevant to the problem:
There isn't an issue with the Device as it works perfectly in other areas. However, at home it is unable to pick up any Cell C 3G. It rarely connects to VODA EDGE Roaming. The call centre said that there is Cell C 3G connectivity in the area and will need to send someone out to check the tower.

So it's been almost 3 weeks now, and I've heard nothing from the call centre. There have been some minor improvements where I can pick up WCDMA but the transfer rate is about 56 kbps.I hope this is resolved soon as it's my primary internet connection and I cannot work from home.

Hi All

Please if you don't hear and Feedback, with in 5 day of call logged.

Any other information relevant to the problem: Since the USB stick was purchased in February it constantly disconnects or starts flashing and I have to manually disconnect. It never stays connected for more than a minute or two. The best I ever got was 10 minutes one Sunday afternoon.
I logged the complaint numerous times on the FB page and was contacted a number of times by technicians who did not seem to understand the problem, and various solutions were offered, none of which worked.
I was then asked to send the stick in for "repairs" which I did and it came back 2 weeks later with the software updated.
Since then the problem has persisted. Eventually I was told that it was a network problem and I would be contacted by a technician and I am still waiting. When I look at the coverage map, it seems as if the entire area round where I live is covered except for the block (literally) where I live.
I need a solution as I am obviously losing out on a lot of Gigs worth of bandwidth.

After posting the above on 10/5/11 I finally had some chaps out on Tuesday (28/6/11) who installed an antennae on my roof. Apparently the signal is good ( I could have told them that) and it should now work well. How wrong they are. I can connect with no problem but the connection lasts for less than 5 minutes before the light starts flashing on the modem and no connection is then available. I then have to manually disconnect and reconnect to try and get anything done. This situation is now untenable and I have had enough of Cell C. What am I supposed to do now!!!!

I hope I'm not speaking too soon, but the past week has been a wonderful improvement. Speeds are back around 2mbps and there are no more time-outs. I hope it sticks, though. Thanks for the help, Cell_C Rep.

I'm getting major packet loss to a couple of international sites (mostly google services (DNS, search, mail etc)).
Ping statistics for 74.125.230.145:
Packets: Sent = 29, Received = 20, Lost = 9 (31% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 286ms, Maximum = 337ms, Average = 302ms

Local is fine:
Ping statistics for 41.203.21.137:
Packets: Sent = 29, Received = 29, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 29ms, Maximum = 53ms, Average = 38ms

Cell_C: Fix it please :)
