Cell C Network Issues: Disconnects, Coverage, Throughput Problems - Report Here

I think I am done with Cell C for now. Shift my business to 8ta. I tried phoning customer support yesterday afternoon on 084 140. After listening to the ridiculously irritating guy computer talking to you and making crappy jokes for R30 airtime, it didnt even give me the correct options to get my issue sorted. I had to phone a different number. I then phoned the switch board but got put on hold for a long time. Just hung up after and used my 8ta sim.

Last night was especially bad unfortunately. At 6:30 I couldn't browse at all anymore. I hope they can figure out what the problem is.

surely it's overloading on their network?

i'm getting an 8ta SIM today... but will CellC reimburse us for the data we paid for but can't use? i still have 2GB.

Please could any good folk explain what's happening with my Cell C connection. Do these tracerts indicate a problem with my laptop's connection. Why is the first entry timing out?

I hope the Cell C rep gives us an answer soon. It's getting to 6pm and I'm struggling to browse. 6:30 and it's going to be out.

At the office (Sunninghill), between 8am and 3pm I have not internet on 3G. Forcing it to EDGE gives me limited access to emails and whatsapp.

When on the road, connection seems ok on 3G.

Thanks Legosa.

How is the stability of your internet connection on the Apple APN? I can barely connect.

Just a heads up, when CellC/Apple enable LTE on the iPhone IOS6, disabling 3G will become impossible (as experienced by friends on Vodacom). Can only disable LTE.

Funny thing that. I also don't understand it. CellC also hasn't respond to my queries regarding that. My connection has been better since last week, but still not 100%. It is acting up again as we speak. A lot of dropped packets. Very frustrating. This is what happens when a company becomes greedy, the service goes down.

Still waiting for feedback, last month I lost 800MB because I could not get any throughput. I am not loading any more data on my modem until the problem is resolved. The problem persists on my phone (500MB data bundle pm).

Located in Krugersdorp.

these are the stats:

Device Status
Model Name: E585
Version:
1026.11.64.18.505sp01

IMEI:

Mobile Status
Phone Number: Unknown

Service Status: CS+PS
RSCP: -81 dBm
EcIo: -5.5 dB
RSSI:

-75.5 dBm
Cell ID: -48704

Zero throughput any time between 7am and 10pm.

What's going on cell c?

Glad to see I'm not the only one, thought I was going mad...on my iPad and could not connect at all today anywhere traveling despite having a strong 3G signal. It's dead. Completely dead and I know I still have data available.

Cell C rep, is there any news as to what's going on? I have to use 8ta bandwidth now every evening which is really sucky since I have to buy that now extra after having bought a Giga 200 from Cell C. I feel cheated. And I'm sure so do all the people who posted before me.

According to the CellC rep, it is only isolated. Yeah right!! I struggled to get in here just to post this. Going back to Bloemfontein for a month this weekend. Hopefully I will have better connection over there.

Zero throughput around Menlyn area, Pretoria. This morning (rush-hour) and this evening (17:00 - 22:00)

Same thing every single night, good signal but 0 throughput. In the morning it works again (Wonderboom South aria PTA). Just gonna keep on posting here every day. I don't know what else to do.

Type of service (pre- or post-paid): PrePaid 99c
Physical address, location or Coordinates: Fredman Drive, Sandton
Time of Issue: Business Hours
Dongle / handset used, Make and Model: Samsung Galaxy Note II
What OS and version are you using on the connecting device (Windows / Mac / Linux): Android 4.1.1
www.speedtest.net results (if possible): Ping 91ms Download 82kbps Upload 295kbps (Sandton Server)
Full description of the problem with as much detail and history as possible: I have little to no data throughput in Sandton CBD. It is not a device problem, as in Melrose Arch and Cape Town I get full speed. The data service in Sandton CBD is intermittent, slow most of the time and often has no data throughput even though I have full H+ signal.
Some questions to consider:
• Data Problem (GPRS/EDGE/3G)? 3G
• Unable to connect to the Internet? Intermittent
• Internet connection times out? Yes
• Data throughput is very low (<100Kbps)? Yes
• Data throughput is good but not excellent (<2Mbps)? N/A
• Is this a recurring problem? Yes, every week day since I ported
• Have you called in the past Cell-C for the same problem? Tweeted multiple times CellC_Support with no response
• How long ago have you registered the same complaint? 2 Weeks

Same thing every single night, good signal but 0 throughput. In the morning it works again (Wonderboom South aria PTA). Just gonna keep on posting here every day. I don't know what else to do.

yes until about 9 to 10 am.
