Give me a Huawei over a ZTE any day of the week.

+1 Talking about that I need to exchange 1 of my faulty Huawei modems - and make sure to test all modems for around 5 minutes or so connected to the internet - if they do disconnect due to 5minutes of use RETURN it back. Under OBF.

Was just at CellC, they are only selling the ZTE modems now. According to the lady, no CellC store will give you a Huawei or swop out a ZTE for a Huawei. Although it works fine on my PC, the router that I bought does not seem to be compatible with it (TP-Link one), probably due to the custom firmware that CellC installed. Which sucks, btw.

The lady also says that the CellC data promotion will only be running for one more month - until end of March?

I had much better results on ZTE, was a bit finicky to get it going on Linux but I got it right. Modem also does not get as hot. In my personal opinion the ZTE is actually better than the Hauwei.

I must say I agree with you there encrypted. I also have had pleasure in using ZTE dongle & it works like a charm on my pc running windows xp sp3 where huawei was giving endless problems. I say give me ZTE over Huwaei any day. I commend Cell C for deciding to partner with ZTE.

I've heard that the ZTE will work with the TP-Likn if the virtual-cd rom is disabled. As far as the promotion coming to an end at the end of the month, maybe so, but they've been saying that every month for a while now, so I'd take that with a pinch of salt :)

The promotion has had no official end date set according to cell c.

There will be new ZTE modem drivers available for download from cell c's website sometime early next week.

Just bought the ZTE MR668 on the 5G package but having problems.

Anyone got the ZTE M668 to work with the TP-Link MR3420? The TP-Link compatability list recon it should work; also looked for the Modem Bin file but no luck!

Any assistance available

Download the MF190 bin and install that. It should then pick up the MF668 as well - stupid, I know. I get disconnects every now and then where it switches back to my WAN connection, and you have to restart the router.

Also check out the routers thread.

On the website, only the Huaweis are listed as Cell C modems. The ZTE MF190 is not even on their list of supported devices.
