I've got the ZTE MF668 too. No problems with the connection or speed(it does get bloody hot though) but I'm having trouble getting a 3G router that supports it. Do any of you ZTE owners know of a router that will work? Because my Dlink DIR-451 don't want nothing to do with it.

Issues with the ZTE :
A swap will need to be arrange if the following combination is found (will get the swap procedure posted when i get it)
-->A 64bit processor with a 64bit OS with the MF668,there are no firmware or driver updates to fix this. The drivers will not istall correctly or when thedevice is removed it will prevent the user from connecting again. Other times it will connect for a few minutes before disconnecting. ZTE has released a MF668A which has a different chipset to prevent these issues from occurring

NEW DRIVERS:
New drivers for the MF190 and MF668 are being retested and should be available for download soon.

Cell.C-Guru I'm not sure if you can chase this up for me. I signed my 5gb per month contract in December and I've been having endless problems with my E1820 modem ever since. The modem freezes my laptop every time I connect it. I've done everything possible to try and resolve this problem but to no avail. I've swapped three modems already and the last one was booked in last week with Job no.PRE231064. Previous job no. is PRE228425. I made it clear to them that they mustn't exchange it with the same model but with a ZTE modem because the ZTE modem, which I've been loaned with, works 100%. But everytime they swap it with E1820.

I've also been to Huawei in Grayston Drive and they too could not help solve the freezing problem

My laptop runs Windows XP SP3 and I've realised from the modems box that it runs on Windows XP SP2.

Which modem do you have? ZTE or Huawei? I think if you bought it recently its probably a ZTE. If it's the 2GB deal then you've probably got an MF190. Have you asked them if its possible to swop it for a Huawei E1752?

sorry, edited my post to give you a bit more info. I haven't heard of there being any issues with the Cell C Huawei speedsticks and 64-bit processors.

If they have stock on hand, a straight swop shouldn't be an issue...

Since its a laptop, try different usb ports (preferable the ones at the back).

And goto the CEll C folder and right click the cellc.exe and choose properties and check "run as admistrator" . might help.

Try run the driver installtion as administrator (check post #7). The MF668 has issues with 64bit not the MF190, so there might be something else on your machine causing a problem or privledge lev. Have you been able to try it in a different machine with a 64bit OS?

I got the Hauwei AND ZTE Speedstick. Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit. Both work like a charm. You must have some other underlying issue?

cappy have you tried uninstalling drivers + software, and then re-installing through a different usb 2.0 port on your machine?

Are you using Win 7 Hom Basic or Premium? Use ccleaner to remove leftovers or install it the same way and use revo to uninstall it to get rid of any traces.

Ok so I went to the cell C offices in Westville Durban...and had everyone scratching their heads over the matter... after 2 and a bit hours and 1 IT specialist and 4 technitions we where no where. We even tried a Huawei 5g...but nothing same issue every time
Apparently my i7 processor is the issue...not the 64bit.
We found a “solution”
Which is, while starting up windows, hold the F8 key and select disable driver signing (or something like that) then it does work. But you have to do this every time. The only thing is it’s not that safe, so they said never install a program in this mode, updating soft ware shouldn’t be an issue. But if you want to install a new program, restart you computer normally.

Apparently Microsoft has made some changes to windows and they said I should update windows, and try re-installing again. So I will and will let you know.

thats a windows issue not a processor issue. you can just turn it off, all it does is let you know that a 'driver' (nothing to do with programs) may not be compatible or windows can't verify that it is intended for your OS version; or as some will argue that it's just a Microsoft way of charging chip manufactures to get there name added to a list.
