Issues with the ZTE :
A swap will need to be arrange if the following combination is found (will get the swap procedure posted when i get it)
-->A 64bit processor with a 64bit OS with the MF668,there are no firmware or driver updates to fix this.
I assume you mean a 64-bit Windows OS, Mac OS X and Linux are unaffected?

This should be off by default, no? It is for my machine.

I had this issue with 2 clients before. After i did everything i could i had them take back their machine to where they bought it to get it sorted.

Cell C Dashboard Software for ZTE MF190 modem

I purchased a ZTE MF190 modem in London a few months ago, and would now like to use it on the Cell C network.
The dashboard software for this modem does not appear to be available for download on the Cell C website.
Can somebody with a Cell C branded ZTE MF190 modem please email me the dashboard software?
Thank you.

(Note: The dashboard for the ZTE MF190 modem is different to the dashboard for the ZTE MF668 modem)

I have the ZTE MF190, but I'm not sure how I can help you. Also, I find the Cell C dashboard to be really slow. It takes about 8 seconds just to start. I've been hoping for an update, but nothing yet :(

CellC website - please post dashboard software

I have the Vodafone K4505-Z modem and I'd like to see if I can get it working with CellC's dashboard. I'm hoping the MF688 version will work. I've tried ZTE's JoinAir software and it appears to be completely useless.

Right now the modem's connected directly to the router, but I'd like to be mobile as well. Current OS is Win 7 (64bit).

Could CellC please update their website with the versions of Dashboard that accompany the speed-sticks currently being sold?

Any reason why this was moved to this thread?

Because it the K4505-Z a ZTE modem and you are looking for the Cell C dash?

Otherwise I can stick it in the general modem thread where it probably should have been in the first place.

Actually I wanted it out in the open where CellC rep would be most likely to see it. I'm not sure he reads general modem articles (but what would I know :) )

Sorry for my ignorance, but how do I go about installing them?

mmmm I see this is just a collection of drivers, no dash. You will have to install them from device manager.

Can't help you there, I'm just trying to minimise clutter. Perhaps the new driver pack along with MDMA will do the trick for you?

Ok so I went to the cell C offices in Westville Durban...and had everyone scratching their heads over the matter... after 2 and a bit hours and 1 IT specialist and 4 technitions we where no where. We even tried a Huawei 5g...but nothing same issue every time
Apparently my i7 processor is the issue...not the 64bit.
We found a “solution”
Which is, while starting up windows, hold the F8 key and select disable driver signing (or something like that) then it does work. But you have to do this every time. The only thing is it’s not that safe, so they said never install a program in this mode, updating soft ware shouldn’t be an issue. But if you want to install a new program, restart you computer normally.

Apparently Microsoft has made some changes to windows and they said I should update windows, and try re-installing again. So I will and will let you know.

Do you have a laptop? You wouldn't happen to have a HP DV7?

Those laptops had the exact same issue with 3g modems and driver signing until hp released updated drivers for the Intel Rapid Storage Technology. Then everything was fixed. If you have a different computer try updating all the drivers for the different components especially the chipset.

ZTE modem experience

Hi all,

I've gone through the whole painful experience buying of a pre-paid deal just when CellC launched in the JHB area and eventually returned it, but I have recently moved to a area with good signal, and "hoping" that most teething issues has been resolved it should be better by now so I bough another 60GB pre-paid deal.

Got home, opened package and noticed it is one of the new modems, the ZTE MF668. It installed all the drivers and software, and first impressions were good, I got signal :D

The dashboard differs slightly from the one that came with the other modem model, and I cannot actually see to what frequency I am connected to... All I can say is that the light is flashing blue... blue... blue :) when connected.

But here is the thing, the speed is actually 'not bad' (touch wood). I noticed a HUGE difference when connecting to my office pc via a private VPN. I actually increased by colors etc in my Remote Admin app and it feels as if I'm in front of my work pc, full color the works... But then, this happens:

http://www.speedtest.net/result/1235867335.png

This is the part I cannot understand... I haven't really downloaded anything yet, so I can't rate on that, but it does feel faster than what I had before. Why would the test on speedtest.net be this bad when it doesn't really feel this bad?

Something I thought of just now - I never un-installed the CellC dashboard software I had on my notebook for the other modem, I just installed this one over it. Can it perhaps be the cause?

But over and above all this, the one downside for me, and I've only got myself to blame for not checking this beforehand, is that my Netgear 3G router does not support the ZTE modem and I know it does support the Huawei one. I am about to email Netgear asking if they are going to support this modem in the very near future, who knows - you might see me later in another topic for a swop...

Anyone else got some thoughts on the ZTE modem? I always wonder why they change makes / models - If the Huaweii one was 'fine', why not continue to use them? Is there a factory or known fault with the Huaweii black speed stick?

Cheers!

Just got feedback from Netgear, and it does not look as if this model router will be supporting the ZTE MF668 modem in the near future.

So... anyone up for a swap for the other model (Huaweii) black speed stick? (Kempton Park area) Preferably looking for one that was purchased recently, for warranty purposes. Only reason for the swap would be that I can use the modem in my Netgear router, no other issues.

PM me
