Cellphone masts: health debate continues

Thanks for giving an answer. So until the next study we can say that there is no proof both ways. Let us hope you are correct. If i am correct it would be to late for a lot of people.
Of others are correct on another proof-challenging issue, I am going to burn in hell. Forever.

Yes, there is absolutely no evidence that cell masts cause health problems. Believing so is moronic, until evidence to the contrary is presented...

Rifht so then we should just go on the assumption based on numerous industry funded reports that there is no harm until otherwise proved?
Sorry thats ridiculous.
I chose not to have one sitting in my garden thanks, I also chose not to use a microwave 24/7 and sit right next to it.
I also chose to try and limit my exposure to cigarettes, the sun, alcohol and fast food. Why? Because it is common sense that its no good for you.
Obviously we have to use these things due to society and life in general.
What I am saying is, a mast is on 24/7, 365, now you want to tell me sleeping next to one of these things is 100% fine?
I dont buy it.
I chose to stay on the side of being aware and cautious and not ridicule people like Karl or anyone else that thinks this way

It is interesting, why is cancer on the rise?
Food, lifestyle, this includes electronic devices I would suggest.
My ex's mom had her stomach removed due to cancer, the doc ( Oncologist) says 1 out of 2 people will get cancer today.

I disagree. If you were living in this house you could have suffered some ill-health!

climbing up them without the proper equipment would also be a health risk

Pleasure, but you try and make it sound like there is a good probability that such a study is going to pop out tomorrow that's going to swing the whole thing.

So, please answer the question put to you; How many studies on the topic that could not find a causal relationship would make you more comfortable? 10, 100, 1000, 10 000?

Or answer it this way; how many studies, over how many years have been done on the subject? We always see these posts that say there are studies for and against. What's the ratio?

I'll ask you the same question; how many studies have been published and what % of those are funded by the 'industry'?

You clearly know the answer, I'd be keen to see the numbers.

While RF energy doesn’t ionize particles, large amounts can increase body temperatures and cause tissue damage. Two areas of the body, the eyes and the testes, are particularly vulnerable to RF heating because there is relatively little blood flow in them to carry away excess heat.

What now ? Is it safe or not ?
You are cherry-picking, but let me clarify this for you. We know that microwaves in the 2415MHz range, at high power (+/- 1000W) and at close range (<30cm) can excite water molecules enough to boil a cup of water in under a minute.

This is how microwave ovens work. There is enough evidence to suggest that if you put your balls in a microwave oven, they will get cooked.

There is no evidence however, that the frequencies used by the cellular networks; 900MHz, 1800MHz, 2100MHz etc. at the power levels (+/- 20W) and at the distances (several metres) of cellular masts cause any harm.

I choose not to strap myself to a transmitter on a tower for 24 hours to feeling my testicles tingle.

Same old "debate" every year. Same lame anti-tower "facts" presented...

If there is a new study that comes out tomorrow and they proof 100% that it does cause cancer...... What would your response be.
I will be happy. But if i read the studies they all talk about the risk. No proof but a risk.
Would you buy a house with a mast in your back yard? With all the networks adding their equipment.

MickeyD and JvZ if you guys were part of a selected sample it could be established that cell masts are a health risk. The stress related conditions which dealing with unfounded opposition and the general operational problems these things can have (such as an idiot climbing one without proper protection). And that is all taking out the manstupidity possibilities - strapping your testicles to the electrical wiring and such things.

Also we do know that coal burning is bad for you and these bad boys use electricity - think about the coal miners.

Sorry thats ridiculous.

Why must everything be a conspiracy when something challenges a will? And it is simply a will for this to be correct until evidence to the contrary is presented. You argue in circles though - Jannie already addressed the industry funded bit with you in this very thread and every other one you've participated in on the matter. Directly.

What you choose to believe has no bearing on facts, and the fact is that no causal link has ever been found to exist between cell masts and, as per your example, cancer. What I find interesting is that kooks like Tracy complain about things like headaches and rashes and others then jump on the cancer bandwagon. The two are completely unrelated. What cancer presents with isolated symptoms of headaches and a rash? This would be incredibly easy to discern as it would be an immune-related issue, and incredibly easy to tell that rates of this sort of cancer were on the rise. To date, no kook has been able to show this.

It's simply a bunch of neurotic morons running around acting like scientists. If there is a causal link between the two, then provide the research to back it up. Simply stating that maybe there is a link is nonsense. I can also assert that the refraction of light from the earth on to water results in the light changing to particle phase and therefore contributes towards skin cancer. Now you can go ahead and research the numbers and find that cancer is higher in coastal areas, and conclude that this must be correct. When it isn't. The science doesn't make any sense. It is the human factor that contributes to that. You might also find that people who spend time in water are more affected. Still doesn't show a causal relationship. You can also compare against coastal vs in-water numbers, and believe that you are correct. You'd still be wrong, because the science behind it is utter tolly to being with, even though it sounds true.

The science behind the mast issue is bunk to begin with. Finding correlations (which the kooks still haven't been able to do) wouldn't help. Findin a causal relationship would, and being able to explain the science is what is required. Step one in this process isn't even achievable, so believing in this conspiracy on the basis of it maybe being right is just loony!

Making a claim and then asking someone to disprove it is an utter waste of people's time. If you want others to spend time researching what amounts to the antithesis of science in this case, then I expect the same effort be put into the assertion that light waves change from wave to particle phase upon contact with physical particles and therefore become dangerous to organic life through ionisation. Therefore causing skin cancer...

Would you buy a house with a mast in your back yard? With all the networks adding their equipment.
If the property price was correct yes.

My main concern would be what servitudes the property has consequent to the mast and the inevitability of having technies loafing about my property ... :D

But if a network operator were to provide me with fibre to the home with an uncapped unshaped 1Gbs internet connection even if it meant having network operator oafs wondering about and a fuggly structure I'd buy the house if I could afford it. (Might not live permanently there - might rent it out on a hourly basis ....)

Also masts aren't usually put up in peoples backyards so if you ask the sensible question - would you buy an upmarket apartment which was housing a "tower" I would answer hell yes.

I would applaud the scientific method.

Exactly. Think about it.

I've had a mast in my backyard for the last 13 years. Even the place I stay in JHB during the week got a mast in the yard.

BTW, I see you refuse to answer my question on how many studies would convince you there is an extremely slim chance evidence will ever be found. Why is that?
