Changing user policy again

Has anyone actually been cut off due to the "soft cap"? I signed up when Sentech first launched and I actually have a contract that refers to it as "unlimited internet" so I really don't think they have a leg to stand on. Having lived through the protracted periods of their semi-functional internet, it would really be a bit rich of them to even try it.

The one aspect of bandwidth capping in this country that I find very unfair is that none of the service providers roll over unused bandwidth.

I got a call yesterday, telling me I had exceeded my 20GB by 600MB or so. I told the guy I had already reprimanded my wife...

At the rate I'm going, Sentech will cut me off next month.

I've just recieved my second phone call, and I only get one more chance  . I'm guessing they'll cut me off somewhere around the 12th of October.

'Carlos', The Sentech softcap telephone enforcer, seemed to indicate that my account will be put on hold until the 1st of the next month. If they do, I'll cancel my contract. Simple as that. He already knows me as being one of their first customers, but I've had enough. I signed for an unlimited service, if they now want to enforce capping, then I'm leaving.

I really don't know what's wrong with doing 29GB's a month on a 128K connection.

Sentech Sucks Big Time

 I signed a contract with benefits, signed the contract to get these benefits, if anything the benefits go up and like a cell phone contract cannot be changed unless the payin to downgrade. If they wish to downgrade then where is my pay-in balance of contract months times my user fee paid.

I just received my first of three warnings to inform me that I have downloaded more than 10 gig. I find it hard to believe that at the surfing speed I have, I could download 2 gigs a month.

What is more amazing is the fact that I was out of the country for two of the four weeks. As one of the early adopters of Sentech, I am getting tired of hearing about acceptible user policy.

Why can they change user policy as they wish, but I can't. Maybe I should send a acceptable user policy changing monthly fees.

Sentech & Nowire

 Got an e-mail which stated I had reached my quota of un-downloaded messages, having been at my PC all day long and receiving my e-mail, I went online to see if the mail was not being duplicated and not deleted as I have some times seen with other ISP's. My mail box was emply. I called Nowire as my ISP via Sentech and no just ignore this e-mail. Huh.

ironically i also received this warning once, also when i was out of the country for two weeks. According to sentech, in managed to generate 17 Gig of traffic in the two weeks my PC was on, and that on the 128K package.

i installed netmeter since then...

Logs HUH

I have been having trouble with someone/s saying I have been spamming them, could not get them to give me any details except for the header/subject of the e-mail - like that is going to help - no you are not entitled to that information and you are automatically guitly of spam, we do not want to know any justification in writing or otherwise.

Ask them for a copy of thier logs, showing log on's etc. that they are basing their statement on.

Rock On

;) they seem to think that they can change, any policy they want without sending you a change of policy notification in wrighting which legally you need to have read and understood. This is bad practice. They say they do not have the time to go through each individual case. There are tons on unemployed people who would be happy to do this, employ more staff to be the best.

As a customer of Sentech I have a new user policy in place as well.

1. I will keep on surfing as much as I would like (I signed up when you were uncapped)
2. You may phone as often as you like, I will proudly try and beat my previous months high (bit hard with the slow speeds because of previous user policy change)
3. If you suspend my account I will pay you the "prorata" amount for the month (my new accepted user policy)
4. I will not cancell my contract with your company as there is nothing better than "irratating the irratation"

Well I am currently very happy with sentech... got a contact in there.....

EVery time I get a phone call (every month) from them moaning about my cap, I tell them very simply that they are more than welcome to cancell my contract if they cannot provide the service and if they even think of cutting me off there will be hell to pay...

seems to have worked since march ....

:)

I find that the people, who using and abusing sentech broadband are not right in the head. What do you download and what are you surfing to get 30Gigs a month or even 10 gigs month, i battle to download more then 6 Gigs a month on my ADSL line come on admit it you have nothing better to do a night then just surf for rubbish. People like you give a company like sentech a bad name just because you can,t get 30 Gigs a month. if you going to this get yourself F______ saterlite connection

struggling to download 10G a month on an ADSL line displays a lack of creativity.
Obviously, many people in SA are unaware of the possibilities of true broadband. Have you are tried to watch video reports from BBC or CNN for instance? You would notice that CNN recommends a minimum download speed of 400kbps. Or did you know that with the video iPod, you can download whole episodes of TV series.
It's only when speeds and capping stop becoming an issue that the internet can reach it's full potential.
Of course you can use it as you like, but don't insult people who use it more than you do...

Well you are quick to lable us abusers when in fact, you are using double telkoms 3gigs, therefore you are an abuser as well! Haha

I can do 6 gigs in two days by simply trying to keep up with all the opensource packages I use for my work.

Call that abuse?

Har.

Good side step? They've justified why they can use more than 3GB and you don't like it.

You sir, are a retard.

NO not a retard just understand that my partner company have to buy there internet connection from the same people as MTN,Vodacom,Cell c,WBS
and in this hole situration will all have to look after for a fellow person that use the internet for they business and e-mail and live conference.

Does anyone understand what has to be done to get sentech connection or how it all works if you knew then you understand why i say things i say it is not easy. I Know

instead of being a problem, start being a solution provider then everyone can benefit from sentech solutions
