Cheap Webhosting - Anyone?

While the length of the domain life and design have absolutely nothing in connection with service delivery, the contract is something to look into. While I don't think it is professional for competitors to post ridicule about unimportant things (see my sentence above), in web hosting you do get what you pay for, most of the time.

JasonH, I agree with you.

They have the best price I've seen so far and a really good product, but their website looks a little bit doggy, maybe a scam.

They don't even have an address or phone number, not even a credit card payment option.

But I'll see....

I never said it had anything to do with service delivey but those facts should be taken into account by the OP. :)

Texo hosting is awesome!
No problems with them so far
R30 per month includes everything you would normally get on a higher end package: www.texo.co.za

I just switched to GoDaddy now .. paid a year in advance - around $6.64 per month for their deluxe hosting plan. Has everything that i need plus stacks of space and monthly bandwidth. :)

One thing that you must be VERY careful for - many hosting solutions can sign up for as little as $4.95 or even $3.95 per month if you pay for a year in advance, but once that year is over, expect to pay around $9.95 per month.

GoDaddy?

Expect a lot of email from them and God help you if you forget your password. If you screw it up just once while there is a credit card on file with them they disable your access. Getting it back is a mission from hell...

I had about 30+ domains with them which I have now moved away purely because of their ridiculous systems and policies.

Hostgator.com I can realy say they are very good, and superb 24/7 assistance!

Why don't you check out this comparison website on my signature. You will be able to compare companies for features, speed and uptime.

I hope this helps. Check them out before choosing a website host. Trust me it sucks to try move from host to host.

oh... And stay away from... :) rather check the website out!

I'm looking for cheap webhosting plans, that should contain:

Space: +- 100mb
php: yes
mysql: yes (a small DB like 5mb will be fine)
domain: .com domain (like: mydomain.com)
email: at least 1 email address with my domain ([email protected])
ftp: yes
popups: NO!!!

Can anyone suggest a good website hoster with these requirnments.

I also noticed that some providers offer free webhosting and then you pay only for the domain. I would love this, but I don't want the provider to close my website every now and then.

Please, anyone?

They host Overseas. Not one of these except Elitehost host on local servers!

Technically, if you offer 5GB local bandwidth @ R59, then you're selling the bandwidth @ 1c/MB - this isn't remotely possible in South Africa, so how do you do it?
I've also been wondering this. I would love to get some local rackspace with 1c/MB bandwidth thrown in.

I've got hosting with hostgator, but I wanna buy some .co.za domains, where is the best place to buy them from?

honestly, you're probably not going to get a domain registration @ R50 ( Uniforum's price) without taking a hosting package what that ISP. They'll loose out, and there's probably no point for them todo all the work and not gain anything out of it.
