I read that on news24 before coming here to check its authenticity. I guess the prepaid V3G users will score with their next bundle purchase, but contract users might be locked in. Told you guys to go pre-paid.....dont ever sign a contract again

Yep, using *111# on my phone shows same pricing as always too

Chaps this is for the fixed line and wireless users (ADSL and Wimax) and not 3G. Look again , it says Vodacom Business clients.

Im going to telkom on Saterday to get a landline. Please somebody in the know must be able to clarify something in the very near future?Surely vodacom business price cuts translate for the 3g user?

Don't get too happy. As per: http://vodacom.com/news_article.php?articleID=448&pid=media_group

From January 2010 Vodacom Business customers will pay up to 50% less for their international Internet connectivity (local internet access portion included) - amongst the lowest prices for fully restored Internet Access services in South Africa.

This means: ADSL, WiMAX etc. Not 3G/HSDPA.

Edit: It has to be noted however that the 3G network most likely follows the same route out over the Vodacom Business infrastructure so I see no reason why the consumer should not also be in for some reductions or bigger caps.

My guess...

IF there is to be a cut in consumer pricing, it will be after another annoying and crappy ad campaign... which will last for something retarded like a month before actually announcing and implementing the cuts.

Or they could just skip us right over and reduce nothing consumer-side.

Imo: go about your business as you regularly would. This is not something that will happen in a day or even a week (if experience has taught me anything).
Who doesn't have the Beyonce dance-ad still freshly burned into their skulls?
A month of that... and for what? Nothing.

True.
I HAVE BEEN WAITING MONTHS FOR A PRICE CUT ANNOUNCEMENT, and i will just vote with my wallet and get ASDL 384.
Yes its slow but at least i will be able to browse this forum without disabling images halfway through the month due to a tiny cap.

They don't need to drop their rates because the competition is sitting at the same prices. So no reason for them to give the consumer something nice for a change.

Steven Hayward, Executive Director of Vodacom Business South Africa, says this drastic price reduction in international bandwidth is made possible by the increasing competition between undersea cable providers which in turn creates a sustainable competitive international bandwidth market in South Africa.

So why does this only apply to Business users?

Surely you've just admitted that you're able to lower business prices because the price for international bandwidth has dropped.
Why then are we (private individuals) still pay such inflated prices?

Yup R100 per gig is very reasonable to these companies yet its daylight robbery to the consumer.

That would be R200 per gig, sir.
3GB Bundle = R589 (~R600 / 3 = ~R200 per GB)

Same applies for anything over 2GB Bundles on Standard.

Anything Below 2GB Bundles you pay even more, example:
1GB = R289
Yes, ~R300 per GB.
