From January 2010 Vodacom Business customers will pay up to 50% less for their international Internet connectivity (local internet access portion included) - amongst the lowest prices for fully restored Internet Access services in South Africa.
My guess...
IF there is to be a cut in consumer pricing, it will be after another annoying and crappy ad campaign... which will last for something retarded like a month before actually announcing and implementing the cuts.
Or they could just skip us right over and reduce nothing consumer-side.
Imo: go about your business as you regularly would. This is not something that will happen in a day or even a week (if experience has taught me anything).
Who doesn't have the Beyonce dance-ad still freshly burned into their skulls?
A month of that... and for what? Nothing.
They don't need to drop their rates because the competition is sitting at the same prices. So no reason for them to give the consumer something nice for a change.
Steven Hayward, Executive Director of Vodacom Business South Africa, says this drastic price reduction in international bandwidth is made possible by the increasing competition between undersea cable providers which in turn creates a sustainable competitive international bandwidth market in South Africa.
Yup R100 per gig is very reasonable to these companies yet its daylight robbery to the consumer.
That would be R200 per gig, sir.
3GB Bundle = R589 (~R600 / 3 = ~R200 per GB)
Same applies for anything over 2GB Bundles on Standard.
Anything Below 2GB Bundles you pay even more, example:
1GB = R289
Yes, ~R300 per GB.
