I knew you are behind this scam! Could smell your cheap and nasty cologne a mile away!
So when are you people giving us cheaper rates.
I only have to put up with this crap until June when the contract expires before I throw your stupid little modem out the window and into the road to have a Hyundai drive over it.

Vodacom's response to my formal complaint about the prices of HSDPA

Dear Sir

Kindly note that when Data services were introduced, R40 per meg was normal. Over time as products and services have been developed and users increased this has dropped to as low as 20c per meg.

This is clearly a huge difference and the chances are data rates will become even cheaper.

We have no conclusive dates or times when this will occur and cannot disclose details of products not yet available to clients.

Yes Data in this country can be expensive, but when used wisely and for its chosen purpose can be a very cost effective and an invaluable tool for many Educational Institutions, Businesses and Households.

Vodacom has invested and continues to invest in various Social Responsibility Programs and has also initiated such programs. Please visit our website www.vodacom.co.za to find out more.

Please note that you are also welcome to view the International charge guide and view the cost for Data services (http://www.vodacom.co.za/services/travel/charge_guide.jsp). Please note when making such comparisons that South Africa is a Developing nation and thus is best compared to other Developing nations.

In addition, Developed countries are by far more established when considering infrastructure. In the developing nation you have a large percentage of the companies Turnover being spent on this infrastructure that already exists in general, in developed countries. This amongst other reasons, directly impacts the cost to the consumer.

The costs are approved by ICASA and should any queries arise regarding these pricing structures, these queries can be raised with ICASA.

You are welcome to contact ICASA at +27113218200(charged call) or via e-mail at [email protected].

Dear Junaid,

Please explain how a 3rd world country like Tanzania can offer uncapped 3G at $60-90 per month? (Zain, Zantel and Tigo)

Eagerly awaiting your answer.

3G data starvetd and over charged client.

I doubt they will drop prices before the World Cup. They stand to make millions from the tourists...

Each year their broadband subscriber totals grow substantially is another year they won't drop the prices. Why drop prices when you are making stacks of cash? Their shareholders would revolt.
