these prices are still too expensive to me...
they should do way with 500mb and just offer...
1GB - R100
2GB - R200
3GB - R300 etc

No way, at the moment, they are making thousands of percent of profit on data.

The Telkom guy should be at my place now installing the line. Going to sign up with MWEB. Will probably not use more than 10 gigs and so I will be subsidising the heavy users but it is still cheaper than Vodacom.

I`m not gonna hog either.. I rarely use up even my 2gig cap. Because its always in the back of my mind.
Just opening new doors like video streaming, online gaming and updates.... etc.

I know I just want the freedom to watch that Youtube video, download a Linux ISO, rent a movie from Axxess and have my Ubuntu machines download their updates without constantly having to log on and stress about usage. A new era is about to start for us!

Here's the kind of pricing I would like to see from Vodacom for them to actually to be "competing" and make an impact. i think it's quite realistic and best part of all is it'll undercut Telkom's pricing for the lower band-with usage population. The only way Telkom would be able to fight back is to do something about their line rental + phone rental which would benefit everyone.
If they don't Vodacom will score a few ADSL and even wireless users.

What I would like to see, or to understand, is the reasoning behind the pricing you would like to see. Give me one, just one, half-good reason why anyone would buy a bundle bigger than 2.3Gb?

Good for you Jabberwocky.

Vodacom also left me with some deep psychological scars with their caps.
I feel guilty if i use a gig in a day on ASDL

Hopefully time will mend these scars...

HE signed up for a contract...so what? :erm: Most people sign up because of the "free" items like the HSDPA dongles.

Well, i am on a My Meg Adv 500 and its been upgraded to a My Meg Adv 800 so thats and extra 60% for me..

I only use the net for surfing, social networkign and downloading some mp3`s etc so for me this is definately the best option for me until i put in an ADSL line

fixed it for you. AFAIK the contracts are more expensive for this reason.
