Cheaper 3G Prices - Rep?

nope, not my speeds - Some guys were speed testing CellC on a thread somewhere

but i'm damn well gonna get a CellC SIM to test this myself! 5 GIGS for 80 bucks a month sounds awesome!

So, the 20th came, and almost 2/3 of it is gone, and I haven't seen any announcement from Cell C?

I want my Cell C dongle, I want my Cell C dongle, I want my Cell C dongle, I want my Cell C dongle...

Okay that sounds bad...:D

I saw the full page Cell C ad in the Sunday Times yesterday, but no mention of a release date.

Probably, but a lot of Vodacom customers are watching Cell C with interest right now... :)

True. If Cell C can pull this off successfully, Vodacom and MTN will have to catch a wake-up. If I look at the issues that still crop-up in the Vodacom forum from day-to-day I suspect that CellC is going to have a steep learning curve when it comes to managing their new high speed network. Besides the obvious price attraction this is going to be key to gaining and maintaining market share.

While the R999 and R1999 price points on the face of it are very good, you are essentially paying to be a beta tester for 1 year IMO.

That would worry me too, if I were planning on getting a Cell C modem. :) At this stage I'm just hoping that the pricing is low enough to force a price war with Vodacom and MTN.

I was about the only 3G user in my area (from a tower about 10km away using an antenna) when they upgraded "our" tower. I got an sms from Vodacom when the tower was upgraded, as I'd logged a request with them, and I started using it immediately and it was great. Now there are at least two 3G towers covering the area, and coverage sucks because there are just too many users. The tower was running 3.6M when it was upgraded, and I used to get 3.6M, at any time of the day or night. Other than the cost, it was great. Now I cannot get half that, and even that not reliably.

For that reason, I am not excited about the 21M speed, because it'll never be that with real users on the network, and I doubt I'll ever get a Cell C sim card to use, but I am hoping that we get a reply from Vodacom on pricing. Of course, I've been wrong before...

Vodacom aren't going to lower their prices for a long time to come, Their rep told us so.

I tend to agree judging from their past history on matters of importance. Vodacom always leads from behind their opposition.
Fortunately our choices will only improve in future and that we as consumers will be able to vote with our "cheque books".

I cannot comment on the pricing issue and cannot confirm if we are going to do anything about our current pricing.

Cell C 4Gs roll out = One city in South Africa - Hardly going to rock the cellular industry!

Their 4Gs network is based on ZTE technology - The very same ZTE that make the R99 Vodafone V125 handsets that sold at PEP Stores!!

If their modems are also ZTE, I've got a horrid feeling that they will be... They will be fine until the go wrong and they will go wrong!

I like the new logo, the C with what looks like a circle but it's actually the letters RAP :)

From the article, the 21Mbps model is the Huawei E1820, the same modem Vodafone rebadge as the K4505 (not the -Z model) and MTN sell it too.

I think vodacom is not that worried about cell c offer because they have lock alot of the sub in a contract

The thing is we have been putting up with vodacom/mtn sucking our bank accouts dry to long and we keep asking for better prices we as south african have been shown the ropes it is now time to start demanding a better prices and if that does not work we strike. hahaha
