That was the dates that vodacom gave me. So they never delivered..

Pre-paid 3G uncapped. Where is it?

I'm not on contract, no credit record, which is probably why I have so much money to throw around... But R520 for 3 gigs?..
3 gb is nothing. For example, I am trying to dev a mod for hl2. This required that I buy the orange box, which I did, for a VERY CHEAP R250.
Only problem is, it effectively comes with 5 games, that all need to be updated before you can play them. The update for one of those games was 1.8GB. Can't download the source code without the orange box. The source is over a gb. Now let's just assume that each game on the orange box has 1.5gb of updates, + the 1gb source code = 8.5gb = almost R1500, assuming they never release updates again. So South Africa has effectively inflated the orange box for pay as you go customers to about R1750, which is 7 times the original price, for an ageing game.

I don't understand why pre-paid gets such a crappy deal. The service providers act like people on contract are a gaurenteed income, actually the pre-paid is gaurenteed income, people on contract are the risk. I don't see any reason why R600-700 shouldn't buy you uncapped, or ATLEAST 10gb pm.

What are my options? Tired of paying vaste sums of money and getting almost nothing.

ED:If the rest of the world had to pay as much as we do, steam wouldn't be the most successful game distribution software, it would be a total flop because it would be completely unfeasible.

ADSL?

Possibly a kind friend will let you plug your box into his router to do the update and just get yourself a axxess PAYG account for a month to do it with.
 
Why some of us need to use 3g, is we don't have phonelines at home.
The reason is, because of the contracts that telkom needs for you to have a phoneline with ADSL.
Am a foreigner here,so noone will give me credit, or a contract, or hire purchase, so i have to prepay everything.
In the rest of Africa, cash in king. In South Africa, they prefer you to indebt yourself.
So if i get a prepaid phoneline at home, telkom says i wont be able to have ADSL.
My bank gives me a few gigs adsl bandwidth a month,but am unable to use it as i dont have an ADSL line.

Cell C prepaid, 5GB a month. works out to R50 or whatever a Gig. If you want more than 5GB a month, then buy an extra sim for even less than the sim/modem bundle.
