Vaseline once again...We don't have coverage here: :-(

I think VC need to be concerned and start updating their game because they suck BIG TIME! I'd rather bUy an Electrolux it does the same job and it's cheaper!!!
VC WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR THE PREPAID MAN IN THE STREET??? TIME TO CHANGE YOU BEHIND TIME!!!

The 8ta promotion comes with a 24 month contract.

A point of interest to you Morkhans:

To prevent bill shock, 8.ta provides users with a ‘safety net’ to check balances and make out-of-bundle purchase decisions in real-time using the redirect functionality. Subscribers on the Internet 5 Promotion and Midnight Surfer have the option to purchase a once-off bundle or utilise out of bundle rates.

Isn't this what you're looking for on a contract? Some kind of real time system?

It does sound interesting. Would be eager to see it in action. If the redirect functionality is what I presume it to be then when you hit your cap you will hit a landing page where you can purchase a bundle or choose to go OOB. Very cool if this is in fact the case!

jannie, mid may vodacom said they would reduce their prices? W
tf! Hurry up

Doesn't sound particularly promising to me,

"He says it’s not possible simply to cut data prices in half, given the load on the network" , sounds like another 10 - 20 % cut in price for the lower, already rediculously overprised packages.

I suppose i'm preaching to the converted here, but paying R945 odd rand for 5 gigs of data looks like daylight robbery, when compared to R200 for 10 gigs, also do the maths, cut in half still isn't good enough.

meh, lets be possitive, I realy hope it translates into meaningfull price reductions accross the board.

I am a huge Vodacom supporter and have been since I was old enough to sign my first contract, but since I've been looking at broadband I must confess that I am not impressed at all. First CellC came to the party with a decent broadband offer, and then 8ta truly emptied it pockets in order to be competitive. And still Vodacom sits at the end of the table like a sour old lady claiming that 2GB+2GB@R149 is them being competitive? Please. DO NOT tell me that lower pricing is not sustainable. 3G is not new technology, it's ancient, and so is the current pricing scheme. Being in IT myself the main lesson I've learnt is that our game change needs to be in sync with technology change, and frankly I feel like VC has dropped the ball. Whether they'll pick it up again remains to be seen...

Let's just say that at this rate, as soon as my 2GB+2GB is over, so is my VC loyalty. I smell greener pastures... Please prove that it's on this side of the fence.

With Heita that shocked all their competitors and EmptyN that reduced 3G and 10G uncapped options I am sure that VodaCon will have to respond soon.

Companies like VodaCon must remember that when you do not give what customers want, customers vote with their feet! Just look at Nokia, Siemens, Motorola and now even RIM (blackberry). Apple is making the bucks and everyone is queuing because Apple is giving them what they want. VodaCon must be more like Apple and less like Nokia!

Also used to be a huge Vodacom fan...but lately I just dont see why I must still stay loyal....

Vodacom are always very "reluctant" to lower their prices & will always wait for someone else to do it first. They simply dont want to & then they waste millions of rands to try and convince people that they give "power to you".

Who in his/her right mind still believes that, or did ever believe it?

And that is why Im also leaving.

Obviously Vodacom and their marketing gurus believe in it. IMHO the Red campaign helped Cell C a lot because everyone forgot the most irritating person ever on TV, Trevor.

Kingrob leaving Vodacom is like JZ denouncing Gadaffi!

its a known fact: vodacoms prepaid data prices are ridiculously insane. and as the latest cliche goes, somebody's gotta pay for the whole rebranding process.. i guess that 'somebody' refers to us, the loyal voda broadband customers who stick loyal to our preferred network of choice, regardless of the screwing we get up the back side, day in and day out for 3G Data on a daily basis.
voda 3G has been R2/MB for the past 20years... im getting tired of this constant screwing from vodacom!we played a major role in vodacoms rebranding, THEY got what they WANTED...The colour RED. Now its time for vodacom to REPAY US, voda needs to give back to the hundreds and thousands of people that it unwittingly siaphoned off in the past decade of GPRS/EDGE/3G users. we want better 3G Prices, we want it SOON, or else the masses are going to say "8ta my bru?" LMAO

Its been 2years...and the prices havent changed...SMH!!!!
Don't be so impatient FFS! Nostradamus died 445 years and 8 days ago and not even all his predictions have come true yet.

I wonder if I will see affordable internet access in this country in my lifetime? We are decades behind most of the world when it comes to connectivity and pricing. There should be a government based incentive for companies to make cheap, fast internet access a priority. It's totally necessary for global competitiveness in the 21st century. If we can build world class stadia and airports for some silly sport tournament surely we can create a decent internet infrastructure? It's such a missed opportunity and pathetic that we have to limit ourselves like this. This is not Vodacom's fault. They are a company trying to make a profit and do not have a vested interest in seeing the big picture.

R289 for 1.2gb of data.
For that we can now get 3gb peak 40gb off peak and uncapped ar 128kb

As soon as my contract ends il be out of Vodacon.

The focus on cell providers now is not so much on call/sms its all about data and id the want to lead and not loose customers, they need to compete with price because I dont see vodacom as being the Woolies of the cell industry.
