Openserve started trenching for fibre during the Verwoerd-Administration, here in Clubview.
They seem to have finally finished.

MWEB is openly pamphlet-ing the area, and is indicating on their website that availability is open.

Openserve is OF-COURSE still not reflecting availability. edit: Partially open now/April 2018

I know it take ages for Openserve to update.
I would like to go with my existing ISP(not MWEB).

Anybody else in Clubview waiting for fibre?

Yes... I have been waiting since the trenching ended in August... I see Mweb does not have a definitive fibre map, but instead a suburb checker. I will apply and see what they come back with.

Technicians were around my area last year around October. The guy said after their testing is done it should take about two weeks for Telkom to come online. Still nothing.

I met a technician in the street at the end of January, writing down pole/box numbers (seems the fibre is coming on the normal dsl poles).

He spoke about end of February as the "formal" availability date.....

The actual fibre line is actually hanging on my actual telephone pole, about 4 metres from my study, where my router is.

It's been there for 5 months now...

I cannot tell you how frustrating it is to log into Openserve, type in my address and getting the "Future Fibre" message.

How far in the future?

Also, is there no-where I can call or ask about it?

I know the feeling. Don't get me wrong, I love the RAIN LTE-A offering, but fibre is what I want.

Apparently there is quite a long snag list that must be completed before the fibre is lit up :(

Ok, so we had an Openserve tech (contracted by Huawei) at our house today. He was there to test something on the fibre box by the pole. Apparently some of the installation teams installed the wrong fibre cable and the wrong termination boxes/splitters/whatever.

He said that we should be ready to order in 5-8 weeks... Time will tell

Openserve now shows FTTH as available in the upper part of Clubview.

I placed an order with my DSL ISP, before Openserve opened up, and it is progressing, but it HAS been a few weeks already.....and nothing yet.

Anyone know how long it takes Openserve to re-do the pavement and roads after they've failed that part of the work? We're sitting with all the fibre ready to go but they did not pass the re-paving work by the contractor. So frustrating

On the Openserve website, the fibre is now reaching to exactly one house from mine...

The pain of running ADSL is almost physical now.

So after months of waiting after the initial trenches were dug for the main lines, we finally have ducting into the properties for the little black box that goes on your outside wall.

Next question here is more or less how long till my area goes purple?

Openserve was at my house this afternoon to install the line - will see if I can connect when I get home this evening.
