First started on my desktop now the laptop is doing it as well, which is really not good considering it could wake in a bag and overheat or just flatten the battery when I really need it.

Always the same reason given in the event viewer "Wake Source: Unknown". Both system were updated months ago from Windows 7 to 10 Pro, update was rather seamless.

It's really hacking me off now.

Anyone else suffering from this affliction?

Had this issue with a wireless mouse waking up my notebook after a win 10 upgrade, updated driver solved the problem.

This happens with my HP laptop since upgrading to 10, and continued to do so after going back to 7  I can't find any wake timers or anything that would turn it on

Already checked that, Windows updates etc? Both running ssd so no defrags scheduled.
Odd. None of my Win10 machine has that issue. Surface Pro 4 now updating firmware...

Nothing else comes to mind as a suggestion to resolve this. It's not usual or std config behaviour.

hmm my desktop pc doing same if i hibernate it . sometimes wakes itself up 5 minutes after
read somewhere teamviewer could be culprit

It's reporting in to the mother ship

Backup your data & do a clean install.
My computer is otherwise perfectly setup, so much work to get it all as I want it again from scratch. And from past experience it still may not solve the issue, actually that's a likely scenario. I'd like to get to the bottom of it.

Mine also does it.

Even after clean install etc.

I had it once... what solved it was disabling the wake timers..

Click start
Type in "power options"
Click on "change plan settings" on the selected plan
Click on "change advanced power settings"
Open the option "sleep"
Open the option "Allow wake timers"
And disable it

Hope that helps :D

Tried that, didn't help

Disable wake-on-lan?

Was about to say the same thing. Especially if you reverted back to Windows 7 and still have the same problem.
Does WoL work over Wi-Fi though? (Notebook in a bag, presumably not connected to a network via RJ45)

If it wakes up in the wrong time, Microsoft should cover the cost of hard drive replacement. :(

Have you tried to turn off "Fast startup" in power settings?

Why would a notebook power up when the lid is closed, other than to go into hibernation?
