Console wars

Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony are waging battle at the Electronics Entertainment Expo, each claiming to be the true king of videogame consoles in a booming multi-billion dollar industry.

They'll all win in their own unique way. Wii will most likely have the most sales though...

I have an XBox360 Pro, XBox360 Elite and PS3 80GB. When I go to get a new game, I only buy the PS3 format if it is exclusive to PS3. If the game comes out for XBox360 and PS3, then I take the XBox360 format.

Personally, I favour the XBox360. Load times are faster, multimedia capabilities are better and smoother and the UI is fantastic. Graphics are much of a muchness between the two.

But of course... This is just my opinion :)

This is where the console war could turn.

Fall of Man was developed before the PlayStation 3 was released and therefore before developers, including Insomniac, had the time to build-up the expertise needed to get the most from the world's most powerful console. The levels in Resistance will not only be larger, but will offer more structural variety as well as featuring more vibrant digital light.
Texture detail is up, as are the numbers of polys and on-screen baddies. It's to be truly next-gen - and not feel, like the original often did, like a PS2 game running on an over-clocked machine. Enemies will display new behaviour patterns that alter depending on how near they are to the player. At range, they won't jostle about randomly but will dive for cover. When they get in close, this AI will shift to close-range mode, enabling them to work on you with new tricks that are dependant on how much they view you as a threat.

This is where the console war could turn. Resistance should amaze everyone who sees it in action.

PS BTW for all the Kidiots out there

PS3 hardware tops Japanese sales charts (Due to Games)

So we've previously reported on how the launch of Metal Gear Solid 4 spurred PlayStation 3 hardware sales in Japan, but now we're bringing in the news that the PS3 is back on top of the charts. According to Media Create numbers, the PS3 sold 75K+ (a slightly different calculation from the previous Enterbrain numbers at 77K+).

1. PlayStation 3: 75,311
2. PlayStation Portable: 64,675
3. Nintendo Wii: 45,564
4. Nintendo DS: 39,201
5. PlayStation 2: 7,297
6. Xbox 360: 2,163

The PS3 was the one to finally knock the PSP out of the prime position. The PSP has had success for the past several months, continuously taking the number one spot and crushing everything else. The question now is: Can the PS3 keep the momentum up and keep things going? Or, will the PSP return to its rule over Japan?

PSP tops Japan's hardware chart

Sony's PlayStation Portable continued to pull away from the other hardware platforms in terms of 2008 sales in Japan, with gamers buying up over 100,000 units in the week ending May 4, according to Media Create.

That gives it sales this year of almost 1.6 million, compared to the second-placed Nintendo Wii, which sold 71,500 units across the week and 1.3 million so far this year.

The Nintendo DS was in third, with sales of 52,500, followed by the PlayStation 3 in fourth, the PlayStation 2 in fifth and the Xbox 360 a distant sixth place.

The full sales figures are as follows:

1. PlayStation Portable: 100,870
2. Nintendo Wii: 71,518
3. Nintendo DS: 52,542
4. PlayStation 3: 10,177
5. PlayStation 2: 8802
6. Xbox 360: 1725

it's a choice between a playstation or a xbox.

I wander what is gonna happen whe:
#1: XBOX release their motion controller (effectively making it better than the WII)
#2: The XBOX price cuts come through.

You gonna have a console that is 500 bucks cheaper than the WII, which is technically superior in every way, backed by the industries most creative developers.

I dont think the tables will spin around, but I do want to see how the other consoles react to it.

Statistics show you what you want to see, not what is happening

You mock, but it is actually a pretty decent website...

Supporting pretty decent and quality, technically advanced hardware, for that matter and not just a simple gaming console for lone and frustrated kids only.

@UnoPanelvan
You are grasping at straws here fanboy.

I am not surprised that MGS4 topped sales charts - not surprised in the least.
Look at the competition that it was up against in the UK Sales Cahrts:
2)Lego Indiana Jones
3)GTAIV
4)Mario and Sonic at the Olympics

Taking the list in context (something you failed to do), no wonder MGS4 was top rated. You also forgot to mention that this was in June!!!

As for your hardware sales figures - you are quoting a sales figure from 1 area in the world to prove your point.

I have said this many times before and will say it again:
UnoPanelvan, you are embarrassing yourself!
