Cool Ideas Fibre ISP - Feedback

I'm using the NewsDemon EU server.
I used to get full speed on my ADSL line, so I see absolutely no excuses for not maintaining a solid connection on a fibre link.
I am on a package with unlimited bandwidth and speed.

How many connections are you using? You probably need to use 40 connections to get 100mbps. TCP/IP takes a while to ramp up the speed to overseas servers, and before that happens, the article is downloaded and a new connection needs to be opened.

I'm using 50 connections to an SSL server.
Agreed 100% wrt to TCP, I'm familiar with TCP Windowing.

Sure, I get what you are saying.
However, that doesn't really prove your case when I perform speed tests to London (EOH Networks) and get a download speed of 16Mb/s and upload of 6Mb/s.

If they've got a termination point into LINX, my connection should be lightning fast.

In what universe is it acceptable to ignore a customer's responses since Friday.
I'm not referring to yourself personally, but your support staff suck.
I just joined you guys on Friday and I've already got a bad taste in my mouth.

How is one supposed to get support?


Problem description:
I've been getting some erratic/slow responses on my upload speed (100/10), and my NNTP downloads are not at a stable speed.
On Friday, there was one Netflix stream running, and I was only able to get around 3.4MB/s.
Last night, with nothing running on the network, I did hit a max of 10MB/s but then it dropped down to 7-8MB/s.

Apologies, due to the multiple fibre line provider outages it has put the ticket count to thousands more than usual and then there are fewer staff on the weekend.

if I move from iConnect to Cool Ideas, how much downtime will I have? I'm currently on iConnect 200/20 using their router, which they manage etc. I'm not getting a constant 200/20, in fact not even close.

Does my ISP make a difference for online gaming, especially in-game ping to EU servers? We are a gaming family so ping is a big deal for us. At any given time we have 3 family members online on PS4s/PCs - and another family member streaming Netflix etc.

We only play a small factor of downtime, the line providers are the guys that manage the physical line and are the usual culprits for downtime.

We were the ISP that pushed Vumatel to offer >100Mbps line speeds and hence where 200Mbps came from. Our latency to EU is as good as can be via WACS, and from London to the EU. We are looking at ways to possibly bring this down some more for gaming only.

This sounds like a line fault or packet loss as mentioned, if you have loss on the link local speeds would be fine as re-transmits dont have much of an effect but with the higher latency it has a large effect.

It's not if we have a termination point in LINX, we most certainly do. Also note if you test to EOH and they peer locally (which they do) their network might be carrying the traffic back to a local peering point.

Do you have an IP of the server for me?

On the switching side it depends which fibre provider and system you are using?

Would you look into this and let me know if there is anything u can do?

Guys is 20mbit up sufficient for online gaming for the following type of peak period in my home: 3xPS4, 1xGaming PC, 1x streaming Netflix etc. I'm moving to Cool Ideas and would prefer a 200/20 over a 100/100 - if 20 up is ok for my needs as above

Should be fine if only playing games. If they want to all stream their gaming to a twitch channel....another story
