So random pings to these, ~175 to Ireland, ~180 Frankfurt and ~165 London, are you getting the same results? Because that's as good as it gets currently via WACS.

I can't seem to find your direct peer with AWS at LINX though ;)

What do you mean you cant find it? Check the traces, 195.66.225.175 is the Amazon side of our peer:

On Octotel 100/100. Would like to thank PBCool and Duwane for all the help they provided!
 
I find this an odd comparison.

My question is whose 'Ping' is the correct?

I have run this test on different days in MyBroadband and has been consistently > 160 ms

Run a traceroute to the Mybroadband JHB Speedtest server - IP: 196.10.98.18 should give us a bit more insight.

Cool Ideas is no longer showing up as a provider on Octotels website (it has been revamped). I assume that is a error on their side or has something changed?

I think with some investigation, the network engineers will find that Teraco is routing back to 155.93.152.0/24 via international, or worse, they prefer the HE.net route in JNB over the peering and then HE route it to London where it goes back to CISP. Probably just a BGP filtering issue somewhere.

Yeap HE give peering instructions that pref them over direct peers. And most people just follow the guidelines, even the bigger guys do this.

Well it's a sneaky way that forces HE customers to take IPT circuits wherever their peer to avoid this, basically leveraging their size.

Should be fixed now, teething issues.
