Cool, understand that 100%, but why is my local internet connection dropping to so low, only answer I can come up with is congestion.

Doesn’t help to log it, when the ticket gets answered in business hours, then there is no problem.

Few months ago I had to keep logs and charts to get it resolved, hope it get fixed sometime.
It does matter logging a ticket, and you are testing over cable obviously? In the ticket state you are testing over cable and at peak times the line capacity battles. We then take this up with the operator.

The problem is that the line fee is the majority of the cost so it doesn't make sense for us to implement systems that manage local vs international just to then drop the price of the service.

Whereas on 1Gbps it does make more sense.

Also some larger players are going to be peering locally, also with Akamai clusters on-net one can leverage the 1Gbps local quite a bit.

It was worth a shot. :crylaugh:

1. Ordered 10/10 under SADV (CI ISP) on the 20/10/17

2. SADV phoned for install of ONT on friday 27/10/17 (Date of call 24/10/17)

3. SADV comes on site with wrong guy 27/10/17 as he didnt know hasnt been dropped. The box on the wall is Telkom apparently even though telkom not listed on estate. Apprently SADV hasnt been dropped into my apartment. Tech tells SADV do have a list of every apartment fibre has been dropped into. SADV coming at a later stage with drop. (Who knows when thats going to be now. ) Why drop into certain apartments and not every apartment?

4. 1/11/2017 - Still awaiting for SADV to contact me re fibre drop.

5. SADV completed install on 3/11/17 - All lights on ONT are on (Obviously except for Ethernet), awaiting SADV to contact CISP to say that all is configured and awaiting on router.

6. PM'd PBcool 07/11/17 asking if he can check if SADV did configure port. I would assume he phoned them and sh@t them out because 15 minutes later get email saying its configured and i can come pick up router. So now all there is to do is to wait for home time :P

I phoned CISP and they said its a vumatel feature, then I phoned them and they said it was a ISP feature.
I then phoned CISP again, and spoke to a different support person and he didn't have a clue what i was talking about.

@PBCOOL any chance of helping me here please?

Thanks!

@PBCool What's going on here?

My account is working normally, and last month the usage stats were working.

I stand to be corrected, but i think the images being posted above with usage stats are an openserve only due to the IPC model???

Not sure Vumatel has such a feature

I have looked everywhere, but I cannot get to the page that displays those pictures.

Nope im on SADV fibre line and CISP data or however it is classified as now.

My fibre journey so far has been a trainwreck due to poor project management between Octotel and our complex management company.

My initial install date was Sept 26 but due to the existing infrastructure in the complex not being ready they couldn't route the fibre to my unit, they returned two additional times to try and do it again but it required new trunking on the building.

On Oct 2nd I started the conversation with the building management to sort out the new infrastructure.
On Oct 19th Octotel started communication with the complex management to start the new infrastructure.
On Oct 30th the contractors arrived at the complex but nobody had informed any of the tenants that there was going to be any construction and needed access to some yards so they had to leave.
On Nov 6th the contractors arrived again (after tenants were given notice) but had apparently no clue what they were supposed to be doing, they fannied about a bit and left.
On Nov 7th they arrived again, still no clue what they should be doing, they had some lunch and sat around. They told me they'd come back the next day after they were given clearer instructions.
On Nov 8th they arrived again apparently given instructions to do nothing except put new locks on some of the existing cabling boxes. They left.

This is where I sit now, still with no fibre and just getting annoyed that apparently nobody knows how to put trunking on the side of building.

It has been 58 days since I reported a problem to Cool Ideas support. In the meantime they seemingly forgot about my issue (I only get half my subscribed speed), I reminded them about it, PBCool has escalated, they forgot about it again, I reminded them again, and still no resolution in sight.

PBCool, can you escalate the issue again please?

We don't track usage natively the usage available in the client area is a feature from the PPP integration, Vumatel trenched and a few other networks only support layer3. You can track your IP usage from your own router if you need to.
