Well must say support i am getting from octotel is awesome got this message on facebook from them just now "Hi willsotaku I will look into it for you in the morning and let you know."

This was regarding any loss on my line showing bad splices thus creating packet loss as Tinuva said might be the issue should help the investigation with Cool Ideas as well

Hi All, back in the land of the living, to elaborate what happened on the Vumatel Aerial/Fibrehoods/Evotel networks the other night, there was a loop on one of their network segments, this then has arp go crazy on the network and so dropping and re-establishing the PPP sessions, this then eats up the IP pools and so you lose connectivity waiting for sessions to timeout etc.

We are still awaiting feedback from Automation Exchange that manage all of this but nothing as yet.

That is not good enough. You need to have support staff who communicates this when there are issues. Or some sort of notification service

Nothing like stp etc to prevent this?

We sent out sms notifications on outage and recovery? Is your cell number listed on your profile?

Has anyone tried to go from CISP to say a VOX, access and show a comparison on the same line with a different ISP 1 day apart. I would be intrigued. Then at least I could be like ITS DEF THE LINE and not the ISP.

Im kind of ready for that, as my streams are just not working on international at all. I would be happy with 20 meg on my 100 meg line. Even CISP have thrown in the towel and said all is fine with my line, despite the less than great speed test results.

- I cant cancel right away, as i have to now wait and pay till the end of Jan.
- Earlier poster said they are going to charge me for downgrading my line.

I cant fine a decent way out without paying even more. :0

Yeah, I went VOX for a month. CISP outperformed the VOX equivalent by some margin.

So basically i have no real other option..... :(

Still dont feel like paying for a 100meg line, when a 10 meg could probably do the same international speeds... I dont watch that much local YouTube or Local porn, that 100 meg local is worth it....

I Just cant work out how uploads work well, but downloads just DONT....

I'm moving across to WIRUlink ASAP, they offer FTTH in my area. A neighbour has been using them for a while and sings their praises, so I'll let you know how that goes since I've also got 'line issues' and given that so many people are having 'line issues' I'm guessing it is an ISP issue.

Edit: Seems i've also been disowned by CoolIdeas hahahahahaha

My portal isn't showing my package anymore.

My portal isn't showing my package anymore.

But isn't that what you want? A quick port to a new ISP? The sooner CISP hand the line back to your line provider the sooner it can be provisioned for the new ISP.

When I ported from VOX back to CISP, VOX messed me around to such an extent that I was left without internet for close to 2 days!!

Are you on aerial or trenched? And when was cancellation requested? If it was an ISP related issue either we would be messing with your traffic specifically or with everyone's traffic in which case everyone would be complaining. Other than that it's only the line that is unique.

No, have they investigated and resolved your line issue as yet?

Trenched and I'm busy typing out the ticket now, I guess we shall see what the issue is once I have moved across but if it is a line issue your support techs seem a little incapable of resolving the problem.

Logically; when someone opens a ticket and experiences the same problems when connected directly into the CPE surely the next step would be arrange Vumatel to come out and test the line? Not ask for the same tests to be repeated, wait a long weekend and then ask "hey is your line fine yet?".

You know, on the topic of messing with traffic, an interesting observation I've made on my line is that when I'm using a 'stealth' VPN to a local server I don't have the connection nuking itself anymore. Sure the speeds aren't perfect and they start at around 300KB/s and will climb and sit at around 8MB/s but that is better than starting at 10MB/s and dropping to 200KB/s. That might have something to do with the MTU which would stand to reason the CPE is faulty, but as I said above, I don't have high hopes of getting it fixed.

So perhaps jaded remarks are not the best solution given the quantity of people I'm seeing with international speed issues. :)

Yeah that's the crazy thing. I do appear to still be connected though...

Line is working. Is there something more i have to wait for, nowhere on my tickets is there anything saying there might be a line fault... If i should be trying to get TT to check something, please let me know.

Your Support guy just let me know that everything is normal on my line even and at the moment there is nothing more CI can do to assist for now.
