Is this something they can't see coming?

If you get close to 100% or lets say 90% don't you order hardware. I am asking as a person with no insight in this matter why must it be at 99% before people start jumping

We started making plans when links & gear reached 60% utilization in my days, if you don't you gonna miss your sla and then you gonna have to start answering some hard questions from the top

It seems that they need to insert a alarm with a bloody taser XD.

I see this more and more popping up including in the mobile internet market

Yeah they have had to re-splice a 144 core and 72 core cable I believe.

That's the only feedback we have, 2 major breaks that need to be re-spliced.

I am curious how fiber breaks concealed underground in good protective shielding can just break and require resplicing. There is no moving parts to this unlike potential currents for undersea cables. Do you have any idea or opinion on how these fibers just break like this ? Seems rather odd to me.

I was at my client earlier, he's on Vuma Aerial in Atholl using iConnect. He started getting these types of Speedtest's (over Cable). He's paying for 100Mbps

I believe those areas are aerial, so a pole gets knocked down and rips the fibre. But trenched is often broken by: mostly other civil work, vandalism, even gas explosions.

Gas explosions ? From where, lol. We dont have natural gas running to South African homes last I checked.

We do indeed, was a big explosion in Hyde Park not so long ago, not a natural gas pocket but an egoli gas pipeline. Cut 700 cores or so.

Got a question as to how the next steps in order process works. Our fibre installation status has now finally changed to work in progress for frogfoot.

So the question now is do we just wait for them to give us a home drop date or is there anything else that needs to be done from our side prior to that to insure our cool ideas installation goes smoothly?

Already have an ac5300 so will only be using the free router as an access point.

so I logged a ticket a while back regarding packet loss etc... and reading this thread about congestion in cpt...

scenario :

server is in jhb + vumatel + cisp 50/50

I'm in cpt with 1. telkom lte 2. Rain lte and with both of them I have been having major issues with connection to my server. timeouts packet loss etc etc...

I think there is some issue in cisp cpt / telkom exchange
