Hi All,

I know that was a notice a few days back about issues with Vumatel, but I just want to check if there is still a problem.

Region:Cape Town : Suburb: Durbanville Area - Wired connection and test,

I ask since speed tests with speedtest and with fast.com only shows that I'm getting half the speed I suppose to get.

It seems to be limited to Durbanville, there is a bug on some of the Huawei switches on the Vumatel network where customers are receiving mirrored traffic from another customer on the same switch. They are supposed to have implemented a permanent fix this week.

Thnx. I didn't restart the CPE yet, maybe I must give that a go as well.

**edit** nope --- still the same

Hi PB

This sounds kind of scary: "customers are receiving mirrored traffic from another customer on the same switch"
I would hate for somebody else to be the recipient of my suspicious browsing :)

Hi PB,

The MTN network seems to have the same issue again, having trouble with browsing some sites while others work. I can't actually browse mybroadband, have to use my phone's mobile data. I'm also unable to stream from dstv now, twitch. Speedtest results are normal though.

Yeap aware, we are discussing with AWS on this, not sure how mybb would be affected. We have rerouted again.

Waiting on feedback from Vumatel on whether it's been completed.

Would a speed test to London have better latency from cape town vs Jhb?

And would the same hold true whether going via Seacom or SAT3?

Yeap as the undersea cables all land in Cape Town, and so you need to add the long-haul latency from Cape Town to Johannesburg.

Anyone on Cool Ideas that has an Apple TV or iPhone that could test something for me? I can’t stream live from the Aljazeera app. But it works if I connect to 4G.

Everything else is fine on fibre.

Odd.

No reported issues as yet and traffic levels are normal. Do you have an example?

My Cool Ideas 50 Meg Fibre is unusable right now and running at 1 Meg speed all evening, can't do anything, struggling to browse, restarted the router still the same. I am in North Riding, I wonder what is the problem....
