And have now been running for a week.

Local is 98/102 and international 7/15 on average of a few random time/ destination server tests.

Still waiting on my credit for the "never up" time, but will take that up offline.

So far, very happy with CI.

Are you able to get your PPPoE details on the client zone? Got my fibre today but have no idea how to connect.

Cool Idea's 10 step simple process was so simple it consisted of 5 steps of how to log into the router and that's it.

I don't think so. But you can open a ticket in the Client Zone under support and they will sent you the details.

Worked around it. Got my login details:

Ping: 5ms
Download: 10.1Mbps
Upload: 9.39Mbps

F@ck you ADSL, glad to be rid of you.

Have had the occasional flap here and there... mostly during the super early mornings. My uptime monitor seems to be working well, can't wait to be back in ZA and have real internet.

Silly question, how would I get a different IP address from CISP? I tried disconnecting and waiting up to ten minutes before reconnecting but I still get the same IP assigned to me?

Re: NNTP downloads, I'm on 10mbps line, is it normal to only get a maximum of 450KB/s hitting the IS news servers (using 5 threads)? I get the same speed when downloading from free-usenet.com news servers. I would imagine full line speed should be double this speed.

Use a paid NNTP service. I always get around 12000KB/s on my 100mbps line.

Try 4 threads? I tried it for a while and managed to get 1MB/s, I vaguely remember 5 threads being slower. If you need anything faster than that, get a paid service.

Thanks, to clarify, my free-usenet.com account is a paid for block 200gb account and the speeds aren't much faster than the 5 thread IS NNTP downloads.

Will try 4 threads thanks!

Will experiment with amount of threads on my free-usenet.com account too.

It's almost a moot point, I've run out of HDD space. Time to plug in the new 4TB HDD I bought :p
The irony, getting an uncapped account with Cool Ideas but nothing left that i really need to download :/

With a block account you should be able to max out your line easily, but you will need more connections, especially if the server is overseas. Try 10 connections on your block account, that should help. Haha, what is it with these drives that keep filling up for no reason? :)

@PBCool - Could you please get back to me regarding my fibre line which is down since Monday. Not getting any feedback!!

Something is horribly broken, but not sure what yet. Can't load amazon.com / netflix.com / amazon.co.uk etc.

PBCool,

What is the contention ratio of your 100 / 100 business product on Vumatel?

Hi All,

I know that was a notice a few days back about issues with Vumatel, but I just want to check if there is still a problem.

Region:Cape Town : Suburb: Durbanville Area - Wired connection and test,

I ask since speed tests with speedtest and with fast.com only shows that I'm getting half the speed I suppose to get.
