Just of the line with Vumatel again, they wanted me to do a Speedtest on their portal, to test from my CPE to the Handoff point.
shop.vumatel.co.za "speedtest" but when I click on this function it just gives an error in the pop-up after a few seconds. Source cannot be reached.
They have now opened a ticket to why speedtest function on their portal is not working for me.
@PBCool can you confirm this address is not being blocked on you network?
http://speed1-sa.venturanext.se
This site can’t be reached
speed1-sa.venturanext.se took too long to respond.
ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT
I tried 3 browsers and get the same error.
They also had me my pc plugged in directly to the CPE.
What is going on?
I am getting horrible download speeds again locally, Line details in my signature.
This cannot continue like this every evening, Vumatel says the line test fine I must contact the ISP.
/snip
We don't limit anything, their server is hosted in Johannesburg so Cape Town clients cant connect to it. So your international is fine, you are having issues with a local service?
So international is fine but local is problematic, that doesn't make sense :wtf:
No I don't mean there is no resolution, I mean from a recourse perspective Vumatel states it's best effort, it just takes some time to get resolution with this kind of thing as the default from Vumatel is they check the levels and state the line is fine, we then need to build a case ourselves with results etc for them to do anything else.
We will get your service back to 100Mbps as it should be, will you PM me your ticket number.

4 people in the house wanting to watch Netflix, Youtube, gaming, download files in the background from steam and the line saturated.
I am paying for 200/200 but the local link seems to so saturated the speed jumps around between average 20 - 70Mbps
The speed tests was done with the Wifi network turned off and only a pc connected to the router and cpe direct.
Hi PBCool,
I have PMED you my ticket no a few days ago. Since had a few responses from support, which related to speed test results. Were out for the day, but got a call from Vumatel in JHB asking me about the fault I logged. Explained to them that it was mentioned here that Durbanville users have "mirroring issues" and that it was said to be a vuma problem.
The Vuma person then said this is not true and it's a Cool Ideas problem and that he would take this up with senior management.
However When I got home I noticed my call is now closed. Says "NOC - Client Link Down" No response of explanation from support. Just that status.
Can you please explain what this means?
Further to the above my line speed has degraded even further...
Test results, as always, are done via wire.
Oh... on 100/100

Watching this keenly as we have the same requirements and are thinking of 200/200.
Vumatel support just check line optic levels, anything beyond that will say it's the ISPs fault.
Although I think it's probably an isolated fault otherwise there'd be a lot more people on here complaining.
Ok, but why has my call been closed and what does that message mean?
Hopefully, and credit where it's due, not many ISPs would be giving support at this time in the evening.
I don't think "NOC - Client Link Down" means that your call has been closed.
Yeah!
We are swapping optics at the main peering location in Cape Town today on both sides, will update once done and you can then continue to test and let me know.
Cape Town Northern suburbs also down.Is there an ETA on this as it seems international traffic is down. I've logged a ticket [Ticket ID: COOL-20180322-87796] for West Beach area in Cape Town. Confirmed with neighbours using Cisp aswell. Bad day for working from home.
