Apologies, I regret to inform you however that we do not offer fibre services in ..... on the fibre network currently.

We hope that this changes one day and that they expand access to residential properties.

PM me the address, bit often even if the OS map says there is coverage, there isn't when we apply.
 
Does CI have a news server? My News Demon account is coming up for renewal...

Openserve is finally rolling out in my area. I have a small IT company which I run from my home office. On an average day we work with two developers from my home office during business hours. Considering getting 'Nitro Cool 200/100'. Four questions:
- Can I be invoiced on company name with VAT invoice?
- Can I get a static IP address?
- What actual speeds up and down are reasonable to expect on average from this service?
- Are there any 'premium' or 'pro' variations with less chance of throttling?

There is a business service with all those options, if you are interested drop me a PM. Other than that no fixed IP on the home service.

I have escalated to executive level, they say there is a change happening tomorrow morning on the JHB side. And then CT after that.

Making some progress we will try switch the traffic tomorrow.

When open serve did the initial installation in the complex they installed a box thingy on the outside wall of each house. As I understand, a fibre cable must be run from this box on the outside wall to inside the house where the router will be to complete the installation. When Open Serve come to do the installation, will they run conduit or something for the cable and run it threw the wall, or must we prep the area for them, drill threw the wall, lay conduit etc? The cable will have to run around 2m from the outside box down the wall, then threw the wall in to the house where the router can be located. Actually a very easy install and short cable run, no trenching or funky things required.

Yeah they will pull the lead from the box into your unit :).
 
Hey Guys

I am still having major latency at night on an Openserve's 20Mbps connection. During the day I have 5ms response times between my home connection and the office, but at night the average is 101ms.

From the traceroute my latency is on the very first hop already, btw, I wonder if it would be possible for Openserve to allow me to use my own SFP on their network so I don't have to use their router...

Anyway, is anyone else also experiencing the same issue?

Openserve change for JHB has been done, so please monitor and let me know.
