cool.jpg

its not just the speed its everything ping spikes/lag. About the only thing you can do on this is mybb and facebook.

Not good enough. Same crappy reply. Not getting us anywhere
I wish there was something else I could do, we were advised it was resolved this morning as I mentioned previously.

Its not good enough simply saying oh well. But still billing us in full.

Well again I wish there was more I could do, we still get billed in full for the lines. It's a best effort service provided, all we can do is escalate to get the issue resolved.

Don't worry, I think most of us get that. Thanks for trying though.

I am, however, not impressed with this level of service from Vumatel. I expected and was promised much better. When they presented to our community at the Roodepoort Civic Centre last year, they were quite proud of the fact that even thought their official turnaround time to correcting issues on their network is 24 hours, they've up to that point never taken longer than 6 hours.

Last year on 31 Dec, a tree fell on a cable and our entire suburb went offline. It took them 3 days to solve that issue. Earlier this year there was an issue with a legacy VLAN being used and causing pretty much the same issue we're having right now, which also 3-4 days to solve. This issue is now also sitting at day #4 .

Vumatel seems quite hesitant to fully embrace responsibility for their aerial (legacy Fibrehoods) network. I'll be sending a certain bearded director an email regarding this. Promises were made and expectations were set.

Yeah well. I already downgraded from 100/100 to 50/50 from 1 July. No point in paying for something that cannot be delivered. Don’t get me wrong... not getting 50/50 either. I must say though, I don’t think the problem is with Cool Ideas. Or at least their available capacity. But I do believe, as an ISP on the Vumatel network, they must have more say and that they haven’t bothered to exhaust all their options.

I do not think the issue is cool ideas. I know its vumatel and their lack of capacity. What i do not appreciate is being billed in full for a sub standard service by cool ideas

Cancel your Fibre and move back to Telkom ADSL. I’m sure Telkom and whichever ISP you choose to go with will refund you whenever there is an issue. Good luck!

You do realize this is across the board right ?

Drop CI move away to another ISP (Insert name here), guess what you will experience the same.

Its the same thing we had with ADSL and Telkom, Telkom was crap how can you expect the data supplier to give you half a bill ?

Less hating towards CI, they are at least trying to solve the issue.

my 2 cents in the fishtank

I echo what others say. Move to Telkom as your ISP and ask your refund. The way you complain here is not helping anyone and may in fact prevent someone else who really do need the help from getting it.

Vumatel have confirmed one of the paths is still down waiting on feedback from DFA on time to resolve.

Vumatel say their primary link is operational, they say they have 20Gbps of capacity and are currently at 9.8Gbps I suspect there is an issue with their LAG or second 10G link. It's been escalated to Vumatels CTO. So I am pushing for resolution as much as possible.

Thanks

Anyone else experiencing fluctuating latency to overseas today?

Code:
 Tracing route to aws-us-east-1.amazon.com [52.46.129.40]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

  1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.0.1
  2 1 ms 1 ms <1 ms 155.93.243.1
  3 1 ms <1 ms <1 ms c3h-backbone.coolideas.co.za [154.0.1.125]
  4 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms cd-backbone.coolideas.co.za [154.0.1.13]
  5 179 ms 180 ms 181 ms uwu-cust.coolideas.co.za [154.0.4.158]
  6 178 ms 180 ms 187 ms v1000.core1.lon3.he.net [216.66.80.169]
  7 185 ms 202 ms 177 ms 100ge14-1.core1.lon2.he.net [184.105.64.237]

Same test run again a couple seconds later:

Code:
 Tracing route to aws-us-east-1.amazon.com [52.46.129.40]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

  1 2 ms 4 ms <1 ms 192.168.0.1
  2 1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 155.93.243.1
  3 5 ms 1 ms <1 ms c3h-backbone.coolideas.co.za [154.0.1.125]
  4 7 ms 1 ms 1 ms cd-backbone.coolideas.co.za [154.0.1.13]
  5 142 ms 141 ms 141 ms 154.0.3.106
  6 143 ms 143 ms 143 ms v1000.core1.lon3.he.net [216.66.80.169]
  7 144 ms 170 ms 154 ms 100ge14-1.core1.lon2.he.net [184.105.64.237]

Seems to me like its alternating between eu transits which results in a higher latency.

So they said all is good and then all is not good? Must be annoying dealing with them

Look at my posts above. The common factor here is the routing through 154.0.3.106

Cool Ideas, Wilgeheuwel is a Mess

Again, another night where the service degrades significantly [MENTION=394133]PBCool[/MENTION] common please attend to this problem asap. This is on a 200Mbps connection. It's no better than ADSL.
