These small things would give us further clues on which direction to take in getting resolution.

Does your friend want to do a 10Gbps test from Cape Town to our Randburg server?

From your FTTH to CloudFlare-CPT, it routes straight CPT->CPT
From CloudFlare-CPT to you, it routes through JHB, eg. CPT->JHB->CPT

So the issue is the return path. Tell [MENTION=394133]PBCool[/MENTION] what your ip range is, so that he can double check that ip range is optimally advertised to CloudFlare-CPT at NapAfrica-CPT.

I suspect, CloudFlareCPT is routing back to you over Internet Solutions, where CISP only has a link in JHB, which would explain the high latency of 20ms.

Yeah I get that. Looks to be for other things as well and not just cloudflare.

Why do they want to host a Speedtest server in the first place if not an ISP?

I have seen people with lower ping to eu sites, such as 150/140. from the routes is there a way to improve this?

It's 140 to London, from Cape Town there it depends on where in EU but usually 20-30ms to Europe.

From Johannesburg 160ms to London then again another 20-30ms to Europe.

Yeah so the WACS cable system lands in Cape Town which is what links our service to London, and it's 20ms from JHB to Cape Town.

What does the reverse traceroute of that look like? and what is your ip range?

eg. you can give 155.93.243.x instead of 155.93.243.1 (I know its not that range)

My service lights has just gone out.
Anyone experiencing the same in kyalami area?

I'm on the metrofibre backbonehave logged a fault over the phone but was advised this Isis was not with cool ideas rather with metrofibre and that the turn around time is 5 days??
It's there a way to speed this up? I work predominantly from home

Looks like on the vanilla (or borwood) network it routes straight to JHB then NapAfrica JHB to CISP.

But I tested on another ISP in CPT and they routes to 155.93.252.x straight. So I dont think its the bgp announcements at NapAfrica thats the issue, but something else.

I have received a couple of calls from TTConnect to say that they want to install fibre at my premises. However, this is just a change of service provider which I hope AH cancels it on 31July then I can migrate to CI. Could you please confirm on your side that it states that it's just a change of service provider and not for new installation.

Hi, the response to the ticket was "As soon as afrihost releases the line we can then get TT connect to re configure the line to cool ideas, once the configure the line we can get you up and running."

Can you just respond to that stating TTConnect has been calling for a new install?
