Anyone else got issues on TTConnect in Bedfordview Area via Cool Ideas?

Really slow speeds last few days. Even getting some packet loss. Logged a ticket, but wondering if its just me.

20Mb Line, Speed test download at 3.5Mb

Pinging www.google.co.za [216.58.223.3] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 216.58.223.3: bytes=32 time=17ms TTL=58
Reply from 216.58.223.3: bytes=32 time=21ms TTL=58
Reply from 216.58.223.3: bytes=32 time=16ms TTL=58
Request timed out.
We have had a lot of reports of issues on TTConnects network today. We are awaiting feedback. Probably a failed primary path or the like.

No responses to any of our communication so far unfortunately. Traffic on our NNI is running at about 50% of normal capacity.

Farrarmere is also absolutely analog

Hi,

This is very concerning.. I thought it was just my area (Farrarmere).

My 100/100 is now hovering around 500kbit/2mbit

Please.. we all pay good money to have a decent service.

I wish there is more I could do, I have tried every channel. Pretty sure they are aware of it but no feedback as yet.

Sorry if this is not the right place, but I though tit ideal seeing as the thread is active and I may make the move to CISP within the next few months.

I was curious about how fibre upload and download speeds work. From what I am used to on dsl and LTE, if you use the full upload speed, it 'saturates' the line so I am not able to download. Is this the same for fibre networks or would I be able to use the full upload and download speed at the same time?

Thanks.
Regards

I have uploaded and download at 100mbps on my line a fair amount. You always get your speed even at the same time

Depends on your line speed. If you go 100 down and 100 up, you can upload and download and play games at the same time.

But if you going to go for a 20/2 line, well expect the upload to also kill your download speed and game latency. Slightly better than on ADSL, but nothing as amazing as 100/100 line. 20/20 will be a lot better at least, and is the minimum I would recommend. Personally, was on 20/20 but moved back to 100/100.

Then log with support stating you get poor international performance after hours, ask them for the iperf testing details which you can run in the evening so we can take it up with the aerial side of things.

hi PBCool. Sorry to bother you on a Sunday, I received the iperf testing details but one of the servers could not be reached on the specified port. I did respond to the ticket advising this aswell as providing results for what I could test but I was hoping the server could atleast be checked this weekend still so I can do thorough testing this evening.

Speeds at the time of testing:

More details in the ticket: COOL-20180712-123192

Thanks

:erm: that was done few minutes ago? Does it happen throughout the day? How are your speeds in the evenings?

I did this one now which is more than tolerable for me:

I have not tested at night recently. The speed is all over the place, so not sure if it is the international portion or something on the Vodafone speed server in London that is affecting the speed, the results are very random.

I suggest we Email the stakeholders

I spoke to cool ideas earlier,

The previous evening, it seemed ok. Then this morning the ping was a good 2ms.

Now again.. shyyyt.

I suggest, a mail to all the stakeholders of TT Connect:

Peter Jeffrey (CFO): Peter.Jeffrey@tesuco.co.za
Marius Louw (Team Leader): Marius.Louw@tesuco.co.za
Eben Griffiths (Eben.Griffiths@tesuco.co.za

The chairman of ICASA is Prof. JCW van Rooyen, but i don't have an email. Its probably a waist to contact ICASA anyway.

If they won't respond to Cool Ideas, maybe a mass complaint email will help?

There is a reported outage that they are apparently looking into but that's about it. For a few days of degraded performance on a best effort service ICASA won't bother.

Also if our customers email directly we also get in trouble as it's against our MSA. I don't see any mass mailing resolving the issue any quicker unfortunately. It's just TTConnect is terrible at times.

Where i'm a bit fuzzy PBCool

 1. Where specifically is the degraded performance?
 2. If the network is degraded, why is it intermittent?

and this one I would REALLY love to know:

I have one of the OLT units just outside my house, which until yesterday has been running on a UPS. I saw the municipality install dedicated electricity yesterday. But prior to that, TT Connect told me their network is passive? Does anyone know?

Also, sorry PBCool, but logic dictates that you don't even have my area listed (Farrarmere) under: https://coolzone.cisp.co.za/index.php?rp=/announcements/193/No-Service-or-Degraded-Service-on-the-TT-Connect-Network.html

So, if i don't get any answers? What must i do? Patiently wait?

No..

No..

1) We don't have any feedback or visibility on what exact areas are affected, as mentioned previously, what's listed on the site is what we get reported from TTConnect or alternatively based on majority tickets for an area.
2) Again we dont have visibility into TTConnects network unfortunately.

"I have one of the OLT units just outside my house, which until yesterday has been running on a UPS. I saw the municipality install dedicated electricity yesterday. But prior to that, TT Connect told me their network is passive? Does anyone know?" No idea if it's an OLT that would mean it's a PON portion of the network which most of TTConnect is Active Ethernet?

Looking at our graphs the TTConnect network has been degraded Saturday and Sunday, realistically the support from TTConnect on a weekend is lacking in general, so all we can do is escalate as much as we can and ask for a fault report and plan for resolution going forward. So unless this continues for weeks on end then all we can do is escalate and wait, then take the resolution and lack thereof from there. It's frustrating for all parties believe me.
