Im in PE.... thing is... my local speeds are always 100%..Just international that's fast one day and slow the next. It's very random.
Like my example the other day... Google Drive, which i use oefen... i get full line speed... yet other things like the Nvidia driver example... I also get around 400-600K....
It starts out at about 1.5Mbps..then quickly drops back to this speed. It's really weird. Then you try a download from say Microsoft, and it comes down at about 3 or 4 MBps and stays there, only dropping down to 1 or 2 MBps now and then, and u almost get the feeling that the line is somehow capped at a certain speed (like throttling) but we all know that CISP doesn't.
When i download something from most major well known companies like Nvidia or Microsoft etc, i expect nothing less than 9MBps or thereabouts, but at the moment I don't even get close.

Nothing to report, which server are you testing to?@PBCool
International has died again.....

Nothing to report, which server are you testing to?
Just did the same test to that server and got over 100Mbps also on the Vumatel network, you are using a cabled device? The next steps are iperfs to see if there is any packet loss across the Vumatel portion. That was to London. Structured communication.
Do you get the same results to different servers? And is it at all times of the day? It may either be optic levels or a congested switch. Also please PM me a trace to one of the servers you are testing to.Yes all cabled.
How would you like me to test

If there is something on our side it will be posted to our notice page. Please do a trace to one of the Speedtest servers in London and PM me for now. We can then look at iperfs.Throughout the week, at times international just goes to a ball of ****.
By the time your technicians respond, (a day or two later) all is well.
The issue is the inconsistency in getting international speeds, especially when I have to switch to 3G to have skype calls.
Can you tell me what to do the next time I can not work on my 200/200 line?

I was under the impression this was resolved after swapping out your CPE? If we have any international issues we would post it and be straightforward about it. If we have no issues then we need to go through diagnostic steps to put forward to the layer2 provider. This is exactly what I have been experiencing for months it is always someone else to be blamed, but mostly "Vumatel Congestion" in your area... yet Vumatel tells me that their infrastructure will handle much higher speeds and its not congested at all, but Cool Ideas always points to that. My issue is mainly in the evenings, after 7pm the connection dies and it's like that until 11pm, then goes back to normal. For me streaming is mostly impacted, everything starts buffering like crazy that works of a international servers (local is always OK).
I went further and got 4x vumatel technicians to come to my home and replace the CPE unit, they went and changed my connection at the area switch/server and this did no change whatsoever to international speeds.
I have eventually given up as dont get assistance from neither sides, Cool Ideas always points fingers to Vumatel, Vumatel points fingers to Cool Ideas and who has to pay for shitty service? Us the clients ofcourse!

If it was capacity related on our we would be aware of it, the tests to run in this case are iperfs. Which I will PM you, but please send me the trace as well. The problem is the intermittent nature of the problem.
When international speed is 1% of line speed it's usually in the evenings. By the next morning the problem is gone.
Will you be kind enough to provide a guide / test process we could follow that your support desk could use to identify the problem after the line works as expected the next morning.
It doesn't help that we provide your support desk with tracert, speed tests etc while our internet is unusable. When they respond the problem is gone.
The behavior appears to be the same with every ISP that grows and runs out of capacity. It feels like that.
@PBCool. Is there a way we can work out how to permanently fix this, or setup a protocol to follow when things go haywire?
