I have decided to stop testing here, as tonight everything seems pretty much normal. I will just see similar results up until 10PM and beyond. I think that upload could be better on international.

So...there you have it - now that I wanted to do a decent comparison - it seems that everything is behaving itself tonight..

Just wish this will last - but who knows.....

Still waiting for the Openserve changes, they have been in the process of upgrading their network and they have limited resources from a people perspective so everything just takes longer. I am hoping that within this week they will be finished.

Wow, My sister is with Vumatel & they constantly have issues. Openserve seems kak from the feedback here.

I am with Frogfoot & seldom experience any issues. Just found that interesting.

@PBCool Does cool ideas cover the installation cost on Frogfoot?I am encouraging a friend to sign up with you guys but it will be pointless if you aren't covering the R1700 installation cost.

So Frogfoot is not available everywhere yet, so some people have no choice...

LOL, tell me about it!

Openserve was here first in Bloem and the only provider for 2 years. SADV came to the party earlier this year and their rollout in my suburb is about 50% complete. Frogfoot is also rolling out like crazy. Unfortunately I'm not going to wait till SADV or Frogfoot go live, I needed internet and Openserve was the best bet for that.

Overall I'm pretty happy, but the teething issues between 7pm to 10:30pm is really starting to get to me. For example, before 7pm I was preloading Battlefield 5 at nearly 7-8mb. As soon as 7pm hit, I'm down to 286kb/s. Was busy watching DSTV Now and it starting buffering at 7:30pm. Had to switch my quality to medium, and it still buffered. Then I went to my PC to stop my BF 5 preload as that was sucking the last resources dry. As soon as I did that, DSTV Now stopped buffering at least. Fast forward to 10:30pm, BF 5 preload, going like a boeing again 7-8mb. All of this on 100/50mb line.

So yeah, definitely Openserve related I believe as my neighbor who is with Axxess has also complained about poor speeds in the evening with his 40mb line. I'm have reason to believe that it must be tied to congestion perhaps in my neighborhood. Although, before I jump to that conclusion, I'll swop to Vox tomorrow morning for 24 hours and give it a bash and see if I get the same poor speeds during 7-10:30 pm. Two weeks ago when I had to use my Vox account when CISP account was offline, it performed stellar in the evening.

Fjorko, there isn't a chance that I can obtain a similar OS test account to run some diagnostics on my side too?

Hi PBCool - didn't see anything on the network status page about Weltevredenpark so I created #COOL-20181119-176079.

The ONT lost connectivity (blue light went off so rebooted). It took awhile to settle back but did eventually except no interwebs. I'm not getting an IP address from the ONT anymore from what I can see on my router's config page.

Thanks.

This was resolved earlier, thanks.

Hey

Not sure, i know someone that works for OS here in PE, and they gave me the account to test with last night, but like you saw - my link tested fine for the first time in a few days on both accounts.

Like @PBCool said - lets wait till OS make the changes they are busy making and then see if things improve, then take it from there....

I wonder what changes Vumatel made last night during their 7 hour maintenance window? I did notice I got a new IP from a new IP range.

They split into a 3rd technical area, usually means their routers are reaching capacity and so split some more traffic off. Hence the IP change.

Is this Vuma trenched or Vuma Aerial or both? And does this help improve performance?

@PBCool any idea when the changes Openserve is going to make is taking place?

Also, will this affect all Openserve customers or is it region based?

Same, haven't had a single minute downtime or problem since signing up in July, they seem to have a very stable network.

Only issue on FF is the international download speed issue on tcp. Everything else I had no issues and no downtime since I got connected in july.
