Thats exactly why, for convenience on mobile devices. Doubt that the wifi from the router will reach all corners in my house. At the moment I have to use a "range extender" to reach the furthest bedroom. What are my options when the new installation takes place?

Terminate the line in a central point, and hope you have whole coverage. Alternatively run a cable to the area you need to get to. I didn't say range extenders were for convenience ;). Just do it properly and don't look back.
 
Depending on the size of your house, I went the relatively cheap but highly functional way by using my own gigabit wifi router for the actual router connected to the CPE and then 3x TP-link (coolideas provided one for free, I added 2x more at about R300 per unit) , this way I bridged all 3 in relative equal radius between the main gigabit wifi router.

These cheap wifi routers are actually exceptional wifi extenders.

Reception in my place is great all around the yard this way and a very very low cost.

This is a bit off topic but seeing as this is one of the most preferred threads I thought I would get some clarity here.

Octotel recently installed the fibre box on the wall outside of my house but nothing to the inside of the house (about 4 weeks ago).

Where and to whom do I go to from here? I take it octotel provided the line now I need an ISP? How do I know when I can apply to active or complete (switch over) to fibre?

This is in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town.

Very happy with cool ideas but ..... can you guys get your telefone hold time down. Had to call a couple of times and I was holding for more than 15min.

You can go to Octotel website, look at the (I think 12) ISPs, and decide who you like.

You can call Octotel to hear if your street is connected and live.

Then go to the ISP site and subscribe for the service you like. Took 5 months from nothing to working service here in Blouberg. Took CISP and Octotel 6 days from me filling in the form till installed and working.

Unfortunately when there is an area outage like with Octotel everyone calls at the same time. Also "after hours" support always has lower amount of people at the support desk. We monitor hold times etc constantly.

Thanks very much. I checked on the site seeing as I am not home most of the times so could not speak to the people but I sent a mail to some of the ISP's on their list.
